    hello

I have got a kontrol s4 but the routing etc using jack osx isnt for me - its causes some issues with sound etc if I internally route into say channel d of my kontrol s4

my question is - what is a good soundcard for using with maschine

I have looked at the komplete 6 but if I want to use the soundcard I buy in the future i.e. if I sell the kontrol s4 then I need to have one that is a bit more versitile like being able to use it for 4 deck mixing and do on

the ni 10 is v v expensive but I suppose I could use that with machine and future setups

is there a card (external) out there for say GBP150 or GBP200 or less to work with my Macbook pro

    any suggestions grealty appreciated

Spent a couple of days lurking forums and reading up on audio interfaces recently, and it seems these are the way to go:

    Hi end: RME Babyface
    Mac: Apogee Duet 2
    Portable: MOTU MicroBook

Otherwise Focusrite seem to have a good rep with professional producers.

Depends on if you're planning on recording with good mics or not. If you are, you want good preamps in the interface. If you're not really going to record audio, just output it, then I imagine there won't be much difference between those in your price range. High sample rate is good if you have a fast CPU. 192Khz/24bit or even 96Khz/24bit actually makes for a noticeably clearer sound over 44 or 48. Especially if you use plugins that support higher sample rates. If you're playing 44Khz samples then it doesn't matter, and it's just a waste of CPU.

I would say the the Audio Komplete 6 by Native Instruments. BTW why are they discontinuing this interface? I'm lost to why you can't buy it online and only at a retailer? I'm guessing a new one is coming? I'm confused by this move.

thanks everyone keep em coming if poss, it looks like a high amount of ins and bout 10 outs is needed as i want it to be future proof for traktor and also maschine use

so about GBP250 is for the card should do it, I now know I dont need an NI card to get some really good deals and the same spec

How do you know that they are discontinuing it? You can still buy it online. Im asking because I am about to purchase it but now I am seconding guessing myself. It makes sense that they might be coming out with a new one because of the current $199 promotion.

I have the Saffire 24 Pro and the preamps are punchy and clean. But, firewire is dead so I'd go with a Saffire 6 USB or a Scarlett.
