I was wondering which turntable you guys use/used/recommend to convert my record collection into digital music. I have a lot of records so I have narrowed my choices to a direct drive tt. Stanton, Numark, and I believe American Audio are my three choices. The thing is there are crazy features on these things that I don't need that make the price ridiculous money. I have just started looking into this, so any advice would be great. I would like to be able to rip into wav, or 320 bitrate AAC. AAC has better audio quality than mp3. Thanks.

The ION, which is even being sold at Circuit City now, might be a good bang-for-the-buck option for you. It's pretty economical and while not a DJ-oriented deck, can definitely do the encoding job no sweat. Either that or see if you can find a nice used TTX-USB.

I love the look of the TTX-USB. It's a wicked turntable, but kinda pricey:

One question; if you hook it up via the USB, can you then assign it as deck C (for example) and this mix with traktor as normal in A and B, and use C for vinyls? If so (and I assume so but I'm leading to something here!) is there any way to synch an mp3 track in deck A with the vinyl playing in deck C, or do you have to manually beatmatch? I can't see how the "Snych" button in Traktor would work as normal if you're using an external source...
