GPO in NI SHOP

Is it version 2 or version1?

Also, if NI is listening, why do you sell it for $50 higher than garritan themselves(and everyoneelse) sell it for?

I'm interested in buying this maybe...

Well, I'm trying to figure out what the NI shop is ACTUALLY selling... whether they are selling the old version one, or the current version 2. And, I'm trying to figure out why the NI shop is charging $50 more for GPO than garritan.com does. I don't think the garritan forum can help me with these questions.

I have submitted an email to the NI sales dep't, but have received NO response.

I have also submitted a post here in the forum, but haven't received a resonse either.

It doesn't say version 2 anywhere on the packageing. I used my KC2006 coupon to get it, have played a little with it.

Instruments do not load into Kompact.

Instruments load into Kontact 2 but do not work correctly.

Save your money.

you should check at the garritan website for an update... i did hear that there is some kind of update for the version 1... i don't know if it brings it up to v2 or not

I have had a look and it is the same version as the update on the NI site (infact it directs you to the NI site).

On the site I cannot see that there is a version 2.

I have heard good things about this library but if it cannot run properly in Kontact 2 I am not interested really.

Fancy buying it?

Hey Bob, how do you mean it doesn't run correctly in kontakt 2?

I'm considering putting my coupon towards it as well. Can you describe the problems you get? Have others confirmed the problems and have you contacted anyone about it?

Hi Rob,

The instruments and multis load into Kontact 2 fine. The problem is with monitor killing spikes/clicks, after a couple of these I decided to save my speakers and not go any further.

I have the patched version. I have not contacted anyone else. If I get some time later I will look into it some more.

I was a little hasty when I offered it for sale, I have been playing with it a bit useing the supplied player and getting used to it and may want to keep it.

I ordered GPO with my coupon almost a month ago. Nothing as of yet. Shocking I know. I know you mentioned it is currently not functioning properly in Kontact, but what about as a standalone or VST? Do you get better results with it when using it in this compacity?

I got mine 4 days after ordering, maybe you should chase yours up.

Individual instruments work fine in Kontact, it is the multis that do not. I have not had the time to look into the multis in Kontact in any detail but I was getting terrible audio spikes.

Everything works find with the standalone player/vst.

So I ordered GPO on Oct. 25th, and never got the item. I called and emailed several times and was told it is on the way. I called two days ago and was told by NI that Garritan is refussing there requests to ship because NI has something wrong about there product on their web site. Ni said they have ordered it twice and Garritan just refuses to ship it. I mentioned there where others on the forums who had ordered GPO and got it. The NI guy then told me that it must have been for an order outside the US, because it was only people in the US who could not get the shipment. What the heck is in the water cooler at NI? I was told I could cancel my order because it could possibly take another six weeks or more to get the item in. I could then use my coupon to buy something else. Hmm....anyone else get the same feeling. I asked if there where new products coming from NI, and was told there will be some announcements after NAMM, but my coupon was good for a year, so I could wait. I bet we see a product similar to GPO from NI soon, or a sound pack for Kontakt in similarity. This sounded like complete crap, so I called Garritan. Garritan said that NI has not placed any orders, and that they would be happy to ship the products had they ordered. He said the only problem they have with the NI online store is that they are over charging people for the software. He said he could not understand why NI was charging what they where for GPO, because it has been $199 for over a year. He also said he didn't understand why I was told it could take another six weeks or more to get this. He said that Garritan could drop ship to them and have it in ther hands within 48 hours. I also inquired about Garritan Marching Band, and they said it is delayed because of unforseen problems with the Ni software they use for it. Par for the course I guess.

 

Wow, I had no idea about that! I assumed that the overcharging was due to the fact that NI had a bunch of Version 1 GPO's in stock which sold for $249... but if they don't have them, and are getting them shipped from Garritan, there is no reason they shouldn't be selling it for the proper price. It looks as though there is either a SERIOUS miscommunication going on, or SOMEONE has been caught not telling the truth.

 

In my experience, the U.S. branch of N.I. are complete idiots. They have screwed up countless orders of mine, and given me incorrect information time and time again.

I eventually realized that N.I. itself isn't a bad company (and I love their products), but the U.S. branch is a complete disaster. Don't believe anything they tell you.

 

Anyone looking for GPO might want to check out the group buy they have going on. I think this is the way I am going.
