I am not sure if this is a vst-wrapper bug or a kontakt player bug. It does not occur in the dxi version though - only the vst version.

When you leave the midi controller set to normal sustain, record a passage - everything is fine. Once you go to play back the passage and stop the passage in the middle of a sustained section, the audio will continue playing for about 15 seconds. This is the "tail" of the sustain from what I can gather. There is not a way to get it to stop. If you bounce to a track, the audio is fine. It is just in the playback - almost like the vst wrapper is not receiving a sustain "off" command.

All options have been tried (from everyone I have talked to). This was also reported on the Cakewalk forum.

Can you please at least let me know if this is a kontakt plaer bug or a vst-wrapper bug? I use Sonar 3.11 Pro with the included vst-wrapper. Thanks!

    GPO as VST Bug

I have not heard of this bug with GPO using the VST version in Sonar 2 or Sonar 3. This does sound like the issue with the DXi version though. We have quite a few GPO Sonar users and this has not been reported that I know of in the Garritan forum on the Northernsounds.com website.

Are you loading GPO from the VST selection when inserting. If you are selecting GPO from the main insert menu then you are inserting the DXi version. Also, make sure that you have set the sustain pedal to the correct mode in Options in the GPO player.

    tested as vst

    Hey Haydn.

I have tested this with the vst version and the dxi version. I have double checks any "loops" that may or may not be occuring. I know that it occurs in only the vst version and it only occurs once you have recorded a passage with the sustain and you press "stop" in the middle of the sustained passage. I double checked after your post and actually tried a few other options in sonar's panel. A user in the cakewalk forum said to someone else - not me - that he thought it did not occur using a different vsti wrapper. However, this I cannot verify - neither could he. Even if this is the case, it wouldn't be a wrapper bug would it? It isn't receiving the pedal off command from kontakt player. This leads me to believe it is an NI problem.

Try it out if you use Sonar and let me know your results.....I know I am not alone with this problem b/c of other posts I have read....

    Sonar/GPO

I use the sustain pdeal all the time in Sonar and have never had this issue. I've had 50 tracks and 8 instances going at one time. When you hit stop Sonar should be resetting the sustain pedal to off. Do you have 'Zero Controllers When Play Stops' enabled in your MIDI options? This zeroes all controllers including the sustain pedal when you hit stop. What happens when you hit the Panic Button? This should send a note off to all notes. Sonar will not receive a pedal off command from Kontakt. Sonar is sending the pedal off to Kontakt. If you hit the sustain pedal and let go, do the notes stop? If they do, then Sonar may not be sending the pedal off when you hit stop.

I'm using the Cakewalk VST Wrapper and have used it in both Sonar 2.2 and Sonar 3.1. Haven't had a chance to load the Sonar 3.1.1 update as of yet.
