Greetings to you, my first post.
I bought the Behringer USB Guitar link, it came with trial versions of all 3 amps, said I had 30 days to decide which one to pick for free. I sounded like a great idea.
The problems began the second time I tried to use them, none of the amps would work. Finally I deleted them and reinstalled, they worked fine, until the next time I had some free time to give it a try, and nothing. For whatever reason none would work past one session.
After a few times of reloading they just refused to work. All total I never got more than maybe a couple of hours total use if even that much, about long enough to hear each of the preprogrammed settings is all. So not being sure which one I actually wanted I just picked number 2, and then nothing. I still can't get it to work.
I tried to activate the one I had picked, nothing. I deleted everything and downloaded the version from the purchase page, still nothing.
I even tried leaving the - out of the activation number still nothing.
I thought about buying the other ones but I doubt if they would work either.
There has to be some string of code left on the drive by the original install, the day counter, does anyone know how to remove it? I would want it gone anyway as drive space is always at a premium.
So for now I pretty much have a useless piece of equipment until someone can tell me how to make it work.
FYI, I have a new laptop, Acer Aspire 3690, P4 1.7 Ghz, Windows XP Pro with media center, & 1 gig ram.

Any and all help will be warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated.

PS I tried to post this but it wouldn't accept it, told me I was not logged in, even though I was, so I'm trying again. If this shows up twice it's not my fault

    No help from NI

I got a reply to at least one question about my troubles today from NI, their reply, go talk to Behringer we don't bother with anything you get from us for buying one of their products, of course they referenced the iaxe which I don't own. I bought the USB guitar link. I don't think it should make a difference who I bought it from NI made it and should stand behind it.
Personally I think that is lousy customer service. And does not make me want to buy anything else from NI.
So now I wait, again, to see if anyone is going to help me fix this problem or find out I wasted more of my money and now own another useless thing. This is not the first company to pull this on me. Makes me long again for the days when customer service was high on the list of every business.
It seems to have died a slow death in cyber space.

What might irk me even worse is that I downloaded the guitar combo II from the NI site, twice in fact, and neither one worked.
I really think NI should be willing to help make it work, do you think I am wrong in that opinion?

The only explanation I got at this point is that some people inside NI have been secretly paid by manufacturers of hardware to sabotage the company.

Maybe this is paranoia, that must come from trying and trying to use software i purchased from what once was the best maker of VSTs.

That is an interesting thought LoL4882.
Here is an update on my situation. I finally got a re ply from Behringer, of course it was the day after I finally figured out on my own, well stumbled across the problem is more like it.
Behringer was kind enough to send me the instructions for their iaxe, which is not what I have. But the set up was similar.
Turned out that for reasons unknown the much required USB driver had disconnected itself. I was going to uninstall it by using the add remove portion of XP when much to my surprise instead of just removing the USB driver XP asked me if I wanted to reinstall it, I had never seen that option before. Anyway I of course said yes and Bingo it all started working again.

But then the next day I had to do the same thing. It's almost as if closing the program and unplugging the Guitar link then shutting down the computer triggers a signal to remove the driver from being active. I am not looking forward to having to do that every single time I want to use it, forever.
That shouldn't happen so maybe the rumors are true, there would need to be some part of the code to tell it to do that don't you think? And that means someone would have written it into the original programming, and that would be a lousy thing to do to people.
