    No problem :)
Record is not part of the Host Transport Control 5 buttons that can be used to send midi while the controller is focused on Maschine Plugin.

If you want I can edit the script so it uses one of the 3 top buttons to Record (Restart, Erase or Tap). Which controller do you have and what Record type do you want? Session or Arranger?

    Hello,
I have mashine MK3 and push 2 but i would like to sell the push . In the VST mode, you can record pattern, notes and variations in maschine VST if you clic the Rec button, but you can't have the count-in fonction. So Actually, I lauch the rec mode under maschine MK3 and I use F9 or the rec button of Push to start the count-in of ableton in the session mode, but i would like too lauch the rec mode with the Count'in of ableton under the MK3 if it's possible ? perhaps with "shift TAP" for exemple ?
    Thanks a lot !

I've found a better solution for this than using a custom script that allows for easy customizability.

1 - Load the "Mackie Control Classic" remote script that comes with Ableton and select Maschine Mk3 Virtual Input/Output.
2 - Open Controller Editor and load the "MCU Transport" Template, select the buttons you want to change the behavior and in the "Assign" page change the number until those 5 buttons do whatever you want.

In your case you can for example set "Erase" button to trigger Record by using Parameter ID "95" and "Tap / Metro" button to parameter ID "89" enable/disable the Metronome. (I wouldn't make much sense to leave a scroll back button there if you won't use a forward one too)

I might edit this thread to use this method, it's simpler. Initially, I was planning to work on the script and add more functionality but python is too much of a headache for me.

    There's not much to it...
In Controller Editor use the 'Mackie' template and enable 'Host Transport Control'.
In Ableton set a Control Surface as "Mackie Control" and use the Maschine+ Virtual ports.

    Thank you so much,
It didn't work because it was "Maschin +" and not "Maschine + Virtual" in the settings.

    You're the best !

D-One, as always, your work is much appreciated. This is something that will help a lot of people using Maschine VST and Ableton in tandem. I just noticed that the link for Maschine MK3 points to the Maschine Mikro MK3 and vice versa. Can you please check it?

I can't get this to work, sadly. On Mac (catalina, iMac) + Ableton Live 11 -- I've followed every single part of the instructions exactly, but pressing the transport buttons makes a "clack" sound from Maschine, and nothing starts playing (neither Maschine nor Ableton responds). There's just a 'clack', that's it.....thoughts?

It's probably due to python being updated in AL11, id have to update there script.

There's a much simpler solution than using a custom script, mackie. read post #23
Should work for all Maschine controllers. Let me know if you run into issues.

Thanks, I didn't realize that post was a replacement for the original, cool.
One question though, where are you getting the Parameter ID numbers from? E.G. when you're assigning '95' to a button, where are you learning what 95 does in Ableton, etc? Thanks a ton!

    No problem.
I just press the 'Parameter ID' number in Controller Editor and move the mouse up and down, the text above changes and it shows you what the ID does but you can also refer to online documentation, here for example:
    https://www.native-instruments.com/...ntrol-mcu-parameter-id-codes-template.266581/

I'm pretty much up and running now (thanks D-One!) with one exception -- mapping 'TAP' button to ID 89 ('Click') isn't working in Ableton Live 11 -- pressing tap doesn't toggle the metronome in ableton, as expected. Anybody get this working (using the 'MCU Transport' template in the Controller Editor) ? Would be great to have the metronome controlled via the hardware....

Coincidently I was just trying the same. For some reason, the Ableton MCU scripts have the ID 89 which is supposed to control the click / metronome set to control the "Home" function.... No idea why, I've confirmed it in the code.

Anyway, I was looking around in the scripts code and noticed that the "KeyLab Essential" uses the same ID's as MCU and has ID 89 correctly controlling the metronome, so just use that instead of the Mackie Control Classic script. I haven't tested every single function tho

I havent tried MK3 with Ableton remote script in years, but may have to try this with my new Plus!

I never got a setup I liked in the past, so I actually worked on an app to help integrate Ableton/Maschine --- by letting you convert your Maschine Kits into Ableton drum kit presets. Those of you interested in Ableton integration may find it useful! It is called Kit Maker :)
