I went to Guitar Center today, and they have v1.8 loaded on their iMac. I like the colors on the screen, every time you select a new group it changes to a new color. Some of the layout is different, but overall it looks good to me. The software was controlled by Maschine, not MKII. The iMac in the store, was an i7 2.5GHZ. With 4g RAM..and was pretty snappy!
Maybe v1.8 will be released sooner than the MKII!

I didn't stay too long..once I started making a beat, I was getting people asking me about Maschine, and if it's good for hip hop ect..it happens to me every time I go there. I'm going back tomorrow, and I'll take some quick pics and post them up.

Keir (a spokesperson for NI on these forums) already announced on here that 1.8 will be available before Oct. 1, the Mkii's launch date, so you are absolutely right!

Loyal customers are the people who are excited that the next version is coming out, not the whiners who always think they're owed something. Many of us are feeling very well-treated because we're about to get Massive, a $199 piece of awesomeness that covers a lot of what Maschine has been missing, for free!.

The sense of self-entitlement is frankly embarrassing. 1.8 still is a beta and there's going to be some testing going on between its release for people who already have Maschine and the release with the new hardware.

I heard a lot of this same whining when the Kontrol F1 was coming out because NI decided to include the full version of Traktor Pro 2.5. Sure, some of us already have the software and want a cheaper version that doesn't include software. Well, giving other people a deal isn't the same as screwing me over. It did decrease the marginal value of the F1 for me, and I've just not bought it. That's my choice. If NI decides that there are enough people like me that it would be worth it to them to have a cheaper hardware-only version, that's their choice and maybe I'll buy it then. I'm not offended either way, though.

They're a business, and it's their job to make money. NI has always treated me well and provided me with good value and excellent products. In fact, I've seen that as they've grown as a company they've provided more things for free and better deals. I think the drama queens who whine on here about how they're loyal customers about to break things off because they didn't get everything they cry about should just stfu.

Did you find a 1.8 operation manual on that GC install? What version of the controller editor did it install and how was it working?

Maschine 1.8 is still being tested. Keep in mind there are other components that are installed with Maschine and all have to be in order before releasing. Also, you never know if some issue was caught at last minute and if a fix is being prepared. It will be released when all is ready, no conspiracy.

I apologize to the rest of you on this thread for getting pissy with vinceprice. We're excited about the new things to come, so it's best to focus on that. So what if there's always one # who wants to complain about good things. I'm very excited and I want to know about what's up with the Guitar Center demo too.

I totally felt what you were saying though H3PO4. If I were running a company, quite frankly I wouldn't have a forum for people to bad-mouth my time lines. I wouldn't tell anyone when something was going to ship because sometimes things get delayed, and people go all bonkers with the **** talk if they don't get what they want when they want it. If they just woke up one day and had a great update, it would be like christmas, so why hype it, just give it up when it's ready to go and skip all the potential to wind up the whiners.

I assume NI feel this is such a small camp of people though, and that they are not taken seriously enough to affect their business. Forums by nature attract complaints, while many happy users don't even bother to use the forums, so it can seem like there are more dissatisfied customers than there really are. But for me, being dissatisfied about free extras seems very self centered.

Having said all that, I understand why you would want to apologize because the whiney sense of entitlement I hear on most forums makes me question if the whiners are adults. They could be teenagers for all I know. Or little baby DJ's hatched from eggs.

I feel what you were saying.
