Are the amp sims in guitar rig the same as those used in the guitar combos?
If they are not,are the guitar combos supposed to be light versions or more accurate simulations.
Just trying to decide how to spend my $$$.

    thanks,

I think it is more about a choice between simplicty (guitar combos) and complexity of sound design (guitar rig). Guitar combos give you the sound instantaneously, with few parameters to tweak. It is a bit like if you bought a guitar amp. With guitar rig, you get much more choice as ou can not only change the amps, but also the effects , with numerous parameters to achieve sounds that you are looking for. It can be good if you want choice and if you like to do sound design (eventhough, there are hundreds of presets to load and play). What I like about Guitar rig is the fact that you can also use it as an effect unit for non-guitar sounds. What I like with the combos is the load and play simplicity.
Try the demos, nothing else could help you make up your mind.
    Good luck.

Since it is possible to export presets from Guitar Combos to Guitar rig, I assume the models are the same as the corresponding Guitar Rig amp models.

That's correct, the Combos are each a highly-tweaked subset of Guitar Rig's components...you can load Combo presets into GR to see exactly which modules are used and how they've been dialed in. The basic amp models are the same, but the mic/speaker and amp settings are really optimized in each Combo model.

so, for someone who already has guitar rig, buying any of the combos is like buying a pack of really tweaked out presets? i mean, that's cool, but it is a moderately expensive set of presets.

...does anyone know if there will be an upgrade path from the combos to Guitar Rig like it has been with Kompakt to Kontakt??

I have GR2 and the Combos package - is there a way to load the combos into GR2? I don't want to keep loading different programs and it would be great to import/load the 3 combos into GR2 but I tried it and it does not seem to work - I may just be doing it the wrong way.

Also, the pedal can't be used with combos (as standalone) but would be available if I could get the combos into GR2 somehow!

    Thanks

Within each Guitar Combo, if you right-click (ctrl-click on Mac) over the preset list, there is a selection to export the bank in Guitar Rig format. Just save each Combo's preset bank, then open it in Guitar Rig...

I demoed Guitar Combos last year and was really taken with it, but (maybe stupidly) I decided to splash out and buy Guitar Rig 2 so that I had more flexibility. I have subsequently found that I have not been able to get the great sounds that I got from the AC Box and Twang combos.

I emailed Native Instruments to try and get the presets for the Combos. Firstly they sent the basic Combo presets which would not load into GR. I then told them about the Combo export function and they have told me that no such thing exists!

Can anybody with Guitar Combos confirm or contradict this for me please?

    Thanks

    Jarv.

I purchased guitar rig a few months ago and have enjoyed it a lot but I am curious of how Guitar Combos sounds. I have read that many people prefer the sound of Guitar Combos to Guitar Rig. If anyone of you can find their way over to the User Library to post some of your favorite guitar combos Presets in Guitar Rig format I would appreciate it. Thanks.
