Okay it seems as the message board has died down a bit.

Let me start a topic that I'm sure everyone will want to take part in. Since the developers are probably reading this, let's put in some suggestions or ideas about what we want in...

    GUITAR RIG 4 !

I vote for more cool experimental sounds, modifiers, LFO, etc..
Stuff like MoogerFooger, and synth based sounds. Would be cool if you also took notes from the Variax and gave us sounds like sitar, banjo, violin, cello, or a larger variety of acoustics.

Also I would like to see the bass rig portion of it expanded a lot more.

Of course one thing I would love to have is a memory based solution with screen built into the "Rig Control" so that you won't have to deal with a laptop on stage. What do you say NI?

As long as they sound better than the Variax. ;)

I would like to see a unit that allows importing of speaker impulses. This seems to be the best cab modeling available to date and there are some great impulses out there I would like to be able to use in GR.

I'd also like to see a feature that simulates a distorting speaker to make the cranked amp sounds a little more convincing.

An eventide harmonizer effect would be great.

I definitely want to see more tonal improvements in the future. The bar has really been raised with the most recent additions to amp modeling softs.

A convincing Univibe model would be cool, I know some can "make" this effect but I don't find it very convincing. Similarly, an acoustic simulator would be very useful.

More classic amps ala Boogie MKII C+ and Marshall Superbass. More modern amps ala Engl Powerball and Krank.

    -more, better reverb units!
-better pitch shifting. I want a properly modeled "dive bomb" setting.
-Perhaps native instruments can talk to TerraTec and incorporate the Axon AX 50 into the RK4 for some awesome guitar midi triggering.
    -digitech amp/cab warping
-a talk wah that lets you type in what it will say.
    text input for delay times
    -a feedback/sustain simulation module
-silent switches on the RK 4
    -optional momentary switching
-a fulcrum switch for the rk4 expression pedal
-multiple seperable outputs, at least 4
    -xlr outputs
-could you make an external expression pedal with a toe switch that occupies both ext. 1/4 slots?
-snapshots that return to a main configuration if stepped on twice
    -knobs on the RK4
-(perhaps a second expression pedal on the rk4?)
    -the crybaby rack wah
-some way of incorporating the behringer FB1010 pedal onto the screen
-please fix/change the midi switching algorithm so that it is consistent with the rig kontrol.

It all sounds good so far but how about a biggy!

a blank VST slot so I can out ANY vst effect into it say camel phat or filters etc a bit like revalver has.

A screen on the Kontrol would be cool as would an FX loop

and how about a nice preamp for acoustics so I can put my Fly thru it.

All of these, especially the harmonizer effect.

Mine is simple. I would love to see a tuner show up in the new Rig Kontrol. Just a little left/right arrow action to tell me to take it up or down.

I REALLY wish there was on-board tuning. I don't think it would be that hard. A dedicated button to the side of the wah or something?

I would like ni to concentrate on good guitar sounding features, violin, sitar and other such instruments are better of staying in the keyboard controller area, which most computer music musicians (producers) already own, I do like the idea of being able to use other vst effects, in standalone mode, I personally use ozone 3 on almost every thing I produce, it can only improve the great sound that already comes out of guitar rig.

    TUNER!

this would be great. but NI, don't got half assed, make a great tuner. Or at least as good as my TU-2

I could honestly deal with a half assed tuner. If I want to do a full tune-up, I'll go to the computer. But if there were just a couple of green/red lights on-board to let me know I'm roughly in tune, I'd be happy.

Well, judging from the submitted videos to the GuitarRig Hero contest, a majority of users are only using one preset in their GuitarRig. Instead of introducing ever new amps and effects and complexity, why not meet this demand with a large'n' bright SHRED-O-MATIC button! It could have sliders for dark-, fusion- (for arpeggiating over that Vivaldi vamp) and tchugga-ness, and that's it. Instant gratification. It's a winner.

Glad you liked it. But for everyone: this suggestion isn't without a serious side.
I had an experience recently where I had to use the 'junior' version of my audio editing app. This is almost entirely wizard-oriented, instead of its bigger brother where you have long menus to pick your effects from. So to reduce noise you just click 'Reduce noise', and the program analyzes your file and picks the tool(s) it finds appropriate. I hate that! I like to pick the individual tools by myself and apply them one by one, based on my experience. Problem is, that noise wizard worked very well - I had to admit it did a really good job. It's the result that counts. Audio is about hearing, not which tool you picked for the job.
Over to GuitarRig, and you could indeed have a Shred-o-matic wizard that picked some appropriate components for you 'behind the scenes' so to speak, based on what you actually wish to achieve with your sound, not based on your brand-of-amp preference etc. You could also have a Blues-o-matic for instance. Of course you're on the way there, with catagorizing and searching presets the way you already can in GuitarRig 3, but it can be taken further. I've had some interesting moments in that vein myself with GuitarRig: My choice of amp component tends towards Fender and Vox, because these are the amps I know best from the real world (with the odd Hiwatt). While working on a clean sound I exchanged the Fender amp sim for a Gratifier (clean channel), and suddenly I had the clean Fender-ish sound I was looking for! Brand thinking can really get in your way. "I'm a Fender guy" / "I'm a Marshall guy" can be such a blind alley. A wizard could suggest that your favourite shred sound comes with the Roland Jazz Chorus amp and some boxes in front, a combination you'd never think of yourself. So what? It's the sound that counts.
While thinking about this I got another idea: it should be easier to exchange components. It's already easy, with drag 'n drop, but it could be even easier: In a given preset there could be a button beside the amp that says "exchange" or "try a different". This would exchange that component with one from the same family and with the same settings applied (as far as possible) for instant comparison. Think of selecting and dragging in a new amp sim, dial in circa the same setting you have, mute the old amp, play, compare - it takes a while, and you don't do that repeatedly. That "try a different" button could even be a drop-down menu for instant access to all similar components. It would be relevant for distortion boxes as well - there are about ten of them now, and with this method it would be easier to mess around with them and open up for some pleasant surprises. Note that if you're working on a high gain distoriton, with this method all distortions should load with a high gain setting already applied. Exchange Chorus with Phaser or Flanger already set to the same rate and depth etc. etc. With fewer mouseclicks its easier to keep the focus on the music and what you're actually hearing. Some feature like this would also keep GuitarRig easy to use while still having all its great complexity intact, and it would be pretty unique in the competition AFAIK.

How about some new amp models based on Matchless and BadCat amps? I would love to see that.

Definitely, a C30 would be great.
As well as a MK2c and a Jim Kelly.
And definitely a sonic overhaul of the older amps.
    Cheers,

I'm a fan of the mesa mk II c. +1

how about an interface that is touch screen friendly. I finally got my tablet working, and though most editing is excellent being able to use your fingers, other parts are too small for practical use. A lot of future computers are going to have touch screens.

this might be too much, but would NI ever consider developing applications for the iphone, windows mobile, or android? a tuner, pocket effects, looper, or metronome would be pretty cool if it ran smoothly. mic in + headphones out, ~400Mhz processor.

This would be VERY cool! I love the live view of GR3, but I would love to see GR3 have something similar to Logic's Mainstage with huge buttons and knobs and things.

Graphical representations of the amps etc?
