First, a disclaimer - I have no experience or knowledge of recording, studio work, etc,... I'm just a guy who wants to play guitar and mic through my Windows PC and a newly bought Focusrite 2i2 1st Gen to record ideas.

That being said I need help badly. I only have an onboard audio card for my computer (i.e. the mobo jacks). I have a 3 prong mic, and an electric guitar. I've tried all sorts of software setting and plug combinations on my PC, Focusrite and Guitar Rig to no avail. I can't hear anything when I'm playing unless I set the "Recording" sound option in Windows to "Listen to this device" and even then nothing is coming out of my speakers except a VERY time delayed clean tone.

    Windows 10
    Guitar Rig Standalone installed

I'm asking for some step by step here, since all the tutorials and videos I've waded through haven't helped.

    Hello,

to keep it simple i would only use GR, there is a split module (hope in 6 also included).
Let´s say in 1L is your guitar and 2R is your mic, then you can load the split module under tools.
Then all you put on a will affect your guitar and all you add on b will alter your voice.
You could then use the build in tape recorder to record your session with L is guitar and R is your voice, if you want to mix it
just switch "stereo input L/R Split" on.
Otherwise you would need a daw like cubase, reaper or whatever, then you can record the guitar dry and later add "the sound"
by choosing amp, speakers and all that, same for voice of course.
