When I load a lot of the presets, the cpu in GR6 Goes between 70 -100, and the sound gets chopped a couple of times, before it totally stop to say anything.

    Can anybody help me?

I have tried to reinstall, that dosen´t help

NI told me to cut screen to 75%, and close screen when actually playing!!! This helps, but still get spikes, especially using as plug-in in DAW. NI are aware of the car crash. Wait and see.

What do you mean by cut screen to 75%?

You can change size of screen in left upper area, along from the L&R. The screen is sizeable from 75% to 200%. Hope that helps.

    What is your CPU?

Before I was advised by a guy in NI, it was 60-80, with disastrous impact on fans and over-heating.Worse in the DAW. The measures I indicate earlier brings it down to avoid thermal peaks and crackles, spikes etc.

I am having the same issue. I am running Studio One artist 4 on Windows 10 64 bit latest windows update and I am getting up to 100 per cent cpu with Timeless clean and massive cpu hits for other presets. Guitar rig 5 runs fine. My CPU is an Intel Xeon E3-1226 v3. anyone knowwhen thjis bug is going to be fixed, it i pretty much unusable at the moment

Did you squeeze screen to 75%? The reverbs and some amps etc are very cpu-hungry and drive up temperature, so try to be careful and not stack too many. By being very careful I can get cpu of around 30-50. It is not what I thought I'd bought, and I was very shocked at first, having had the earlier versions which were solid as rock.

I tried that but CPU use still way too high, some presets just about work. You would have thought this bug would not have got through testing as it is quite a basic coding error. I can only guess that it is only an issue with certain processors that were not tested specifically. I would hope they are working on the fix right now, and that it will be released on its own very soon!

Well it's not really about a "coding error", as for example I don't get that CPU usage on my two machines at all. This is about your CPU, and maybe (very likely) also your power settings - if it's not set to High Performance, make sure that it is.

Dynamically changing CPU clock (which is what lower power settings would do) are disastrous for audio processing.

Also for those on Windows 10, this is a must: https://www.howtogeek.com/368781/how-to-enable-ultimate-performance-power-plan-in-windows-10/

I have never heard of power settings in a Mac; enlighten me.

I have used music software for more than a decade and never encountered a mess as I have been left by GTR 6. I have used Ableton, Logic X, most of Guitar Rigs and never had this problem. GTR 5 is rock solid on my Mac, to the extent that I never even bothered to look at the meter........

My power plan was already set to "high performance". It is now set to the "Ultimate performance" power plan, so thanks for that tip. However this has not changed the CPU usage by GR6.

This is a powerful CPU and I run everything else on it with hardly any CPU hit at all. I have run Pro tools, Ableton Live, Studio One, Arturia V collection, Amplitube, TH3, Superior drummer, etc, etc. None of these take even half of the CPU that Guitar Rig 6 is demanding.

As to the advice given to reduce screen size to 75 percent, Firstly this does not work for me. But more importantly if the screen size impacts CPU usage to the extent does, then this is clearly a coding issue. I have worked in software development for 40 years, and examples of poor code causing such issues many times.

I am convinced that this is a coding error that maybe only effects certain processors. My processor is Intel so not highly unusual.

In another thread someone states that Someone from NI has said they will be fixing this issue. I would be very grateful if you were able to contact the developers to ask whether they are indeed working on a solution? Currently it is unusable and I would really like to get this working.

My CPU is also an Intel (i7-6700K) and I don't have that issue... So it's something else system-dependant.

Timeless Clean patch shows 20% in GR6 CPU meter over here (and Task Manager shows less, because GR6 calculates CPU usage differently), running with RME UFX+ at 128 samples latency (in standalone and Reaper). Post Rock Swell is at 16% here... And 6700K is a relatively old CPU by now. On the other hand, I do have it overclocked to 4.5 GHz across all 4 cores all the time, so maybe that helps, dunno? In any case, I also don't have a dedicated GPU, I am just using iGPU of 6700K for my graphics...

My GPU is "Intel(R) HD Graphics P4600/p4700"

I have also set windows graphic settings to high performance just for guitar rig 6.exe previously it was “windows chooses” C Program files/native instruments/guitar rig6.exe

I can now get standalone working eventually managed to change preferences to display ar 100 percent by default. Hwever the CPU issues is identical

Happy the Windows owners have a fix: now can anyone direct me - a Mac user- to our own fix?

That graphics chipset belongs to very old Haswell CPUs (from 2013). No wonder you're having CPU issues, then. The old GR5 components are always working in HQ mode in GR6, so if you enabled HQ in GR5 with the same exact preset, you should see roughly the same CPU usage between the two.

EvilDragon, thanks for the info, I guess that could well be it. I will pick up a GPU today and see if that fixes it. Update: By the way I tried Putting HQ on in guitar rig 5 and it was fine between 10 and 20 percent CPU load. SO something is different in GR6 and I am guessing it is the graphics.
