first time NI, bought myself GR 6. Never had any issues with other software, but OH BOY... GR6
eats so much CPU, I simply can't use it! Ableton live (10 and 11), Mac mini 2020 i7 32Gb Ram. CPU is at 27% the moment I select track with GR, is at more than 50% the moment I play one note, is at crashing the moment I play 3 notes. Hell, not even with buffer size set at 256! (which I never do, always 128 or lower).
    Motu 896mk3.

So, as I can read I'm not the only one with this problem. What's next? Was this my first and last Ni product ever to buy?

hI Native Instrument. unfortunately there's no way to create a support ticket and you do not reply to this thread. I bought GR 6, cpu Goes to 80% and therefore GR6 is useless. All other plugins on my mac work fine in any DAW. what a shame to have spend 200$ on GR. never NI again

ok, haven't been using GR6 due to many problems. I did follow the typeform, and managed to use GR6 in standalone and in Logic Pro x. Unfortenately it doesn't work in Ableton Live 11. CPU crashes immediately

    Hi ACM,

are you running the latest version of Guitar Rig 6 (6.2.1)? Could you give us the crashlog of Ableton Live 11 so we can find out what's going wrong?

    Cheers,
    Eddie

I also have this CPU-problem. I use Win 10; my DAW is Reaper. In the standalone-mode, GR6 CPU load is okay, but in my DAW, it is much higher (changes from 10-15% in standalone to about 30 percent). At some of the presets, there are peaks at about 80 percent.
My PC works at ultra high performance, so, this should not be the problem. I bought GR6 yesterday, so this should be the newest version. Some of you wrote, it could be a graphic-card-problem, so I integrate a screenshot of the GPU Z - analyze tool in this post.

    Hi windplayer,
    two things you could check:
    - Is your NVIDIA card used by Reaper (and not the Intel integrated graphics card)?
    - Is the Gutiar Rig plugin running with the same input configuration as standalone? (Mono vs. Stereo)
Both things can negatively affect performance.
    Cheers,
    Eddie

    Hello Eddie,

    - Is your NVIDIA card used by Reaper (and not the Intel integrated graphics card)?

How can I check (and change) this?

    - Is the Gutiar Rig plugin running with the same input configuration as standalone? (Mono vs. Stereo)
Yes, I set them both at the same configuration, but CPU rests high in the plugin-version (and low in the standalone-version).

This is one way of setting the graphics card for an application with Windows 10 directly. Your NVIDIA graphics card might provide an additional way to do it.

For the standalone vs. plugin cpu load:
Is your sound card sample rate and buffer size the same between Guitar Rig standalone and your DAW? E.g both run at 96 kHz and 128 samples buffers size?

Yes, they are both at 256 samples buffers size.

"This is one way of setting the graphics card for an application with Windows 10 directly."

I set Reaper to the Intel card and tried the high performance and energy saving setting. At both settings it is the same. The CPU is high.

Can you try using the NVIDIA card instead?

How can I do this? There is no option for that in the Win 10 settings. Is it possible to switch it on in Reaper?

"I'm a little confused now, you said you managed to set Reaper to use your Intel graphics card. How did you do that? And did you follow the link I posted earlier, did that not work for you?"

Yes, this worked. But I only had the possibility to choose between Intel graphic card low and high performance.
I will try the nvidia-link you posted.

With your link, I could choose nvidia as graphic card for Reaper.
But it makes no difference concerning CPU.

There are several nvidia-settings, so I give a screenshot as attachment.

That is unfortunate, I'm really not sure what could be going on there. We've seen issues with those integrated Intel graphics chips, but since you are now using your nvidia card we can rule this out as the source of the problem.

That is a pity. Perhaps, there are other ideas what to try...

GuitarRig6-6-2-1-Default-CPU.png I have the same Problem. Huge CPU consumption with Guitar Rig 6. I bought Komplete 13 yesterday that's why I'm late to the party.

To make it simple. Loading Guitar Rig 6 standalone ( default patch ) let my Fans spin. The picture says it all.

Disabling does not make any difference.

    Windows 64/Pro Audient ID14 MKII

    Best regards,

I also could not really get rid of the CPU-problem. I had nice support from Native Instruments - and we tried everything.
There was no problem with my system, so Native Instruments should work on this problem. Using same configuration/quality, GR6 is about 10-15% higher in CPU than GR5. Lots of presets in consequence have 30% CPU, others much higher.

I started Guitar Rig 6 using the inbuilt Intel-GPU and it's even worse. Just for information, Guitar Rig 6 is the only Plugin I have this kind of problem.
