    Hello everyone,
I just got guitar rig 2 and I am really loving it so far. I am trying to figure out the best way for me to use this thing live. I've been everywhere reading about just hooking right up to the house and going through the PA. I've got a Marshall JCM 2000 and I really want to use guitar rig 2 primarily for effects. Is there a good way to use guitar rig 2 with my amp? Everything I've tried so far doesn't sound that great.

Any help at all would be great.
    Thanks!
    Alex

If you're going to use GR2 for effects, you can set up RK2 in the FX loop of the JCM.

I tried that yesterday. I sent the "send" from the effects loop to the computer and the "return" from the computer into the head. Did I do this wrong? It was pretty noisy.

    Thanks!

You have to achieve unity gain.
Listen to the volume when using the amp without GR.
Then use GR and listen if you're not getting much higher volume.
It's all in the gain stages and must be set right for it to sound good.

Many have. I used my solid-state Fender FM 212 R amp. I had absolutely no trouble once I matched the level of each preset I was using. I certainly didn't have any noise (except for the hum coming from my single coils occasionally, but that was sorted out using light noise reduction within GR2). However, I wanted to use amp models as well, so I went straight into the power stage of my amp (guitar -> RK2 -> FX return). I have a separate bank of presets for playing live, essentially the same as my recording presets but with the cab emulations removed and the level adjusted.

I recently went back to using an old fashioned pedal board, since I realised that I wasn't really using GR2 to its full potential (I'm only using wah, phaser, overdrive and delay FX), and having the laptop around always made me nervous anyway (once, it almost got trashed by an overexcited bandmate on stage). Plus, although the amp models were a big plus, I often found myself using the same preset for the entire gig, I simply forgot to change presets, and nobody noticed. So I use GR2 exclusively at home for recording but not because it didn't sound right live.

I have recently posted in another site's forum about this same topic. I didn't get any responses so I was glad to see one here. If ucmeicu49 doesn't mind me hijacking his thread- I would like to post an additional question to this topic...

I have a Fender Super 60 tube amp that I would like to use Guitar Rig in the same way as some of the previous posters (i.e. as an effects processor into amplifer effects loop). My question/concern is that I am using M-Audio Fast Track USB as my pre-amp/interface into the PC. Can the Fast Track be utilized as a preamp for this type of connection? I am currently only using the Guitar Rig demo to try out the product so I don't have the Rig Kontroller. Before I purchased any additional cabling or "blew something up," I was hoping someone might be familiar enough with Fast Track to have an answer. I will attach the specs of the amp and attach a diagram of the Fast Track interface.

    Thanks in advance.
