I have worked out how to play electric guitar live through Guitar Rig 4 as a standalone. But I want to play it live through Maschine. When I set it up as a plugin I just hear the clean guitar signal. Is there any advice as to what the audio settings should be? I read somewhere that people recommend recording clean guitar into Maschine and then adding Guitar Rig FX afterwards. But can't you just play it with the effects in real time?

Have you set up a Sound as the audio input "track" for your guitar? Sound channel properties, input tab, adjust source. Do that and have Guitar Rig in the signal path (either on that Sound or on its Group). Sounds like you're just hearing your clean guitar though the monitoring/cue output, which doesn't route through effects.

I've got the guitar coming through a group into a sound (like below). Then I've added Guitar Rig as a plug-in. I'm sure I must be missing something else in the routing settings. Any advice on that would be very welcome.

Actually now I come to think of it, I haven't routed the guitar into that group! That's what I'm missing and I don't know how to do. So you are right, I need to know how to route it through effects - that's the advice I need.

That's in sampling mode, which is where you need to be to record, but to route and monitor through effects, you need to go to the Sound channel properties and set the audio input to the one your guitar is connected to.
