I've got GR running on my mac destkop (runs well) and I will be upgrading my notebook. I'm contemplating:

1 - Install GR on the notebook and get an audio interface for it
    2 - Buy BB

Has anyone tried both products?. I'm interested in hearing your perspective.

Only get the BB if you want to you use Pro Tools M Powered at some point. As a guitar simulator, I think GR wipes it, but that's just me.
As an audio interface, it's not bad, but the Pro Tools compatibility is a nice thing.

    Thanks Marc.

Good points that I hadn't considered. I believe that BB has close to 0 latency (or so they claim) which was attractive. You are right about Pro Tools. That is a nice thing.

I listened to the music on your site. Cool stuff. Do you play anything other than jazz? If so got any web links?

The BB when you run it alone is near 0 as it acts like a pedal, but it lacks the versatility of GR.

When you use it as an interface, the latency is of course higher.

I play more than jazz, but have no clips of it. Mostly I do jazz and classical.

I have both, though Im about to sell my black box and my rig kontrol to get a firewire audio interface and the fcb1010. They area both good, the blackbox does have 0 latency, great distortions and effects but not nearly as much as guitar rigs. What kills the blackbox in my opinion is that the blackbox pedal just has 2 buttons and a pedal, and it doesnt have midi input. The rig kontrol is nice but not nearly as good as the blackbox when being used as an audio interface for recordings. Another plus for the blackbox would be that you dont need to be carrying a computer everywhere you play.

    Black Box

When you hook up a Black Box as a front-end interface with GR3, are you guys using the USB out or the s/pdif digital out into a sound card? I just downloaded the demo of GR3 and tried it briefly into my PT HD rig and the latency was horrible, but I didn't have time to dig into the issue yet. Worked fine as an RTAS plugin on prerecorded tracks. That is tomorrow's project.
    Thanks,
