Not sure if the title of my post makes sense but in this case I'm trying to assign/learn the Talk knob on the Formant Filter to a knob on my MIDI controller but it's as if Guitar Rig isn't recognizing the knob at all.

My computer recognizes my MIDI controller fine, I can play stuff in but just Guitar Rig doesn't seem to like it. Any ideas?

I have Guitar Rig inserted as an audio effect on Kontakt's audio output - maybe that's the problem? Not sure how else to do it.

PS I'm using Cakewalk by BandLab.

In order to Map Knobs you need to use Host Automation and Remote control. It appears the Midi never makes it to Plugins in the effects rack in CbB.

So with Kontakt set up as an Instrument and GR5 in the effects rack. Click the Automation Lane Icon at the bottom of the Kontakt Instrument Track (you will need to expand the height of the track to see it, see screenshot green square). You will then see the automation lane appear. Expand that, then in the Dropdown Hover GR5 then select "For Talk" from the resulting Automation list.

Then Right Click on the right where it should show a percentage indicator and select Remote Control. In the RC popup select "Controller" then Click and Hold on the "Learn" button and wiggle the Knob on your Midi Controller. Release the Learn button and you should be all set. Note, if you have Automation Write Enabled, when you record, the Knob movements will be recorded.
