Excellent - input modifier to control delay wet/dry - of course! Thanks for that!

I'll try the snapshot suggestion as well.

Regarding VSTs written and supported by a guy in his mom's basement - no thanks. I'll stick to mature, stable, well-supported apps with excellent hardware integration like GR3.

I do like some of the suggestions regarding the tapedecks, and a VST/AU hosting module would go a -LONG- ways towards providing nearly unlimited flexibility (with the caveat that NI can't control 3rd party plug-in performance).

Put a tuner display on the Rig Kontrol 4 and I'm a happy guitar-playing camper.

I'm betatesting DIG 2.5, it pawns Guitar Rig 3. DIG 2.0 isnt good, but DIG 2.5 owns! Guitar Rig owns for Chorus Clean (ultrasonic, preset 2), but the hi-gains sounds not good for todays standards. WAKE UP GUYS.

Even faster then i expected it to happen:

"DIG 2.5 has been scrapped. DIG 2.5 has been axed from our development schedule." by KM

    Prophecy? Satire? Who knows.

Sorry Gisle. Maybe now Ken will take the needed time to finish projects.

    ADA Flanger

Is there any info about ADA flanger update?. Now Paul Gilbert have signature flanger pedal AF2 wich have ADA flanger features, so maybe we get someday same stuff to Guitar Rig 3 or 4 - hope so :)

    Guitar Rig 4, Virtual!

What would make GUITAR RIG 3 better is anybody’s guess but if were to suggest idea it might be already have been answered like using the KORE hardware controller to tweak the GUITAR RIG parameters. Instead of using a mouse to change the delay time why not use the KORE controller knobs for that, pretty much any parameter in that case. I read the touch screen compatibility idea from someone else but to make that better why not have a button right next to LIVE VIEW button to expand the rack space to full screen, you know the entire amp and matched cabinet to full screen, call it the SOUND CHECK button. To take this a step further make the rack space slightly at a angle according to where you move or point the mouse or hand at the rack space, sort of like a wide angle lens effect you would find on a camera just not as dramatic, now that would be great for touch screen compatibility. With those two at hand or mouse, GUITAR RIG 4 could be step further to the virtual realm. Now all we need is a tried and true powered monitors certified or recommended by NATIVE INSTRUMENTS to go with the entire package, BOSE can make some great stuff, the rest is up to you.

P.S. Is it possible to use GUITAR RIG as a effects based software with a external pre-amp, to use the built in signal splitter as a pre and post effects manager. You know to use single split A (Input 1 on the rig controller)as PRE effects, and signal split B (Input 2 on the rig controller) as POST effects with a external pre-amp. Then the two outputs (marked on the rig controller as Left, Right output) would be effects chains A and B right, then the GUITAR RIG software would work for both your external guitar amps effects loop and your external guitar amps guitar input.

    Nice ideas!
You can use the double set of input/outputs as both preamp and a mono effects chain. I haven't tried this myself, but another user here have reported it. This requires that you keep your tounge straight!
When RigKontrol senses both inputs are connected, and you insert a Split as the first component in a preset, guitarRig will assume you want two totally discreet effect chains. This is intended for instruments like the Chapman Stick and for jamming with two instruments through GuitarRig. For your application it's a good start!
Input 'A' could be your guitar, and within Split 'A' you put its effects. In the Split Mixer, pan 'A' hard to the left! Connect output 'A' to your preamp input. Connect your Effects loop Send to input 'B'. Set up desired post-effects in Split 'B'. Pan 'B' hard right! Connect output 'B' to your effects loop Return. If you get no sound, try and switch the panning around - but careful (see below).
Note that this will double your latency! The signal will need to be sampled and processed twice, during both input (the 'A' part) and post processing (the 'B' part). Depending on, you may find that perfectly acceptable however.
The tiny delay between A and B can create a horrible howling feedback if the two chains are blended. This is why it is so important to pan hard to either side.

    Great ideas.

With regards to delays vs. sequencers, NI could take some notes from the new Digitech Time Bender. I haven't personally tried one yet, but some of the concepts sound fantastic, like being able to create multitap patterns by strumming the guitar, assigning pitch shifting to specific taps, etc. All things you could do by hand, so much more intuitive with these new technologies.

well, after all the excellent suggestions that people on this forum have made, NI introduces GR 4 (PRO!) and has pretty much ignored them all. :(

...That's really really disappointing. The two new reverbs look cool, and hopefully sound good, but that's not enough for an upgrade. the new effects should've been released to guitar rig 3 for free.
unless one of their GR4 "expansion packs" includes stuff that we requested (or a suitable RK4 is released) then I don't think there's any point in upgrading.
It looks nicer - more Amplitubeish, but I don't much care for surface revamps.
the cost to upgrade better be real cheap.

upgrade = $80. I'll probably do it. But I'll feel guilty later. That happens to me a lot.

Yeah, this is a really dissapointing upgrade ... 2 amps and some effects ... and a control room, right.

They probably haven't even included widescreen support or other super-simple, but very needed stuff ...

The Rig Kontrol 4 better be worth it ...

And this thread, should've been monitored by the development team! Ha! What for?

Again, they've concentrated on completely wrong things. IMHO. They could've produced a 3 verison that worked ok first, before proceeding. But I guess the powers that be, and they want money for the new thing, not upgrading without getting any dough back, I guess it's the way it will always be with anyone.

As I said earlier, I've grew tired of GR, slowly - by and large - and does not care for the new one anyway. The small and tiny annoyances has started to grow on me. Funny thing, I have to resort to other sites to read about the new one, because of the dreaded "you have to use the very latest browser" on this site, with no backwards compability at all. Sucks big time if you ask me. And oh, I still use GR 2 for certain sounds, especially the plex.

They haven't looked to AxeFX Ultra for inspirations and guidance, and have not even taking even ONE of the wishes, suggestions around here and incorporate into the new one. I am not too overwhelmed about the "convolution" bit.

At first sight, I'm kind of underwhelmed. This looks more like a v3.5 than anything else, but I guess marketing wanted it otherwise, and of course they have the last word, and so it was GR4.
At least one new reverb and one delay looks interesting to me. It's a cheap upgrade this, and for the price you can't even buy one hardware box that does the same as one of these new components. . .
With GR3, many of the real changes and improvements were 'under the hood' so to speak. It might be the case here too, so I need to investigate. Anyway; very very few of these features were actually requested by users*.

"This forum is monitored by the product design team" must be an expression of a specifically german sense of humour, which I'm not into. Obviously it is a joke.

No, I don't expect NI developers to implement every little wish found here. But a case in point: the most frequent question in this forum has for a long time been "How do I record myself?". I, as one, have suggested to rename the TapeDecks to something more contemporary. Or whatever, as long as they to something about it! By close inspection I can now see they have called TapeDeck I 'pre' and TapeDeck II 'post'. That does it, guys! This falls somewhere between 'the simplest solution available' and just being lazy, and I'm not sure where. Sorry if I am still unimpressed. Especially concidering all the feature requests made even before GR3, repeated by several user independently, which there are no trace of. Perhaps if something were communicated back to to user forum?

    * I am certain that NI have beta testers and reference groups of players that makes their requests. There must be some real Marshall-heads there, as the number of Marshall amp simulations are now doubled. In that sense NI do of course "listen to their users". They could have stopped pulling that joke on us others, ordinary users however.

It looks like they aren't even going to upgrade the rig kontrol ... man.

GR3 was OK, but it was far from perfect, and they haven't even tried getting it right with version 4.

Damn it, I'm really kinda frustrated with this.

There are a few nice additions, but most of them strike me as things a creative tweaker could accomplish with the existing tools. And if you're already running GR as a VST in a host, then a lot of it is entirely redundant.

Sooner or later I'll get curious and spring for the new amps. The upgrade price is... reasonable. Not a great value, but not insane either.

I'm just glad there wasn't any hype leading up to this - I'd probably have been disappointed.

Totally disappointed! Where is the modern high gain amps, like VHT, Framus Cobra or Diezel? Too sad.

Harmony Central press release has more good news!

"the new version introduces advanced cabinet and microphone modeling, providing an enhanced organic tone based on latency-free convolution technology"

"Further improvements in GUITAR RIG 4 PRO include optimized sound quality for pitch-based effect modules, expanded host automation and controller assignment features, universal MIDI control functionality for the Rig Kontrol 3 pedal board, and more."

Sounding better and better all the time!
