Hanging notes - affecting everyone ?

I bought a brand-new system ...

I'll be installing it over the weekend and will let you know if I still have the issue with the specific project I can reproduce the problem with.

 

This is ridiculous that this is still a problem. It makes this potentially great program difficult to use.
It can't be that hard to fix.
I guess NI is too busy with Kore to fix a defective product.

Could it be no one in power really cares ?

The $ is made , no returns on software , so why concern
one self .

Its a shame as this is one awesome sounding synth

Then they`ll push version 4 on us

I wont forget this HUGE disappointment when I`m

I am having an issue in which Absynth simply stops responding to MIDI input, however other soft synth's continue to work fine such as Stylus RMX or Symphonic Choir(within Sonar 5.01)... Absynth also does this in standalone mode as well.

My setup:

Presonus Firepod
K2661 - MIDI Controller
Sonar 5.01
Windows XP SP 2
P4 2.8ghz 3GB of RAM
2 SATA 250 GB drives

I updated the software, I shut off the power management software etc.

I cannot use this product in a studio environment, or live for that matter

Please fix this, as it is a great product idea!

 

I emailed tech support the problem. I imagine that I am not the first person to do this. I have dealt with a number of software companies and have always received responses back from the company regarding the product. (Voxengo, Elemental Audio, PSP).
I hope to get a response back from NI. I sent the email two days ago. I asked them to at least give us an update on the forum as to this issue.
Someone above said that they estimated the problem affected 5-10% of users. How do we know it is not more than that?

 

I don't know for sure...

I made that estimate from informal polls I did on forums other than this one where the subject would come up. I'd then ask anybody who had the issue to speak up and anyone who didn't have the issue to speak up as well....

That's knot a good idea; just wait for an Absynth update later this year. NI have indicated that a new Kontakt update is being released this month, and since Kontakt and Absynth have similar hanging note issues then it makes sense that a fix to Kontakt could be utilized in an Absynth update as well. Of course, if the new Kontakt update doesn't fix the hanging note issue then it's unlikely Absynth will be fixed anytime soon. We'll just have to wait and see.

 

But I don't have hanging notes with kontakt 2.
Only with absynth.

I mean it ... those hanging notes drives me crazy. Insane.
So much time lost searching for salvation and nothing in the end.

Should that be 'phat binary support', for 'phatter' synth sounds

If I mail them they just can trash my mail and nobody will notice it.
If I do it here everybody will notice when they close this topic.

Just tell me if it is a problem for somebody.

All I want is a simple yes from NI that a "free" update will come that fixes this problem.

I've noticed something interesting recently. It may be nothing but it seems this hanging note problem appears sensitive to ASIO latency. I use a Soundblaster Audigy (yes, I know - but if you think it is a problem I invite you to listen to my tunes ). When I'm mixing at 50 or 100ms latency I get regular hanging notes on playback and mixdown. But lately I have been mixing at 80ms and have not had hanging notes. Hopefully this will be useful to the good developer folk at NI.

I tested some things but I have the hanging problem with every latency I try. Just start up a fast arp. and after a few seconds there it is .

These hanging notes are driving me insane- I just bought this and it's sooo crippled. This sucks- it's EVERY time I use it while making patches- if I hit the panic button, absynth just freezes and won't play any notes at all for a minut, then it will kick in for a second and hang the notes again- then freeze some more. Same thing on my buddies system. Mind I keep a dedicated audio computer that runs lean as hell without any garbage apps- what's up with this.
