lately I have been using the step sequencer quite a bit but i found tonight I needed a Linn Drum kit and I did not have one ready in Maschine but I did in Battery 4. So I load up battery 4 and of course the step sequencer for multiple sounds is not ideal. I could mouse them in but I wanted to use the hardware but I haven't found a great way of making this work. Has anyone else?

I haven't tried using the step sequencer with VSTs but could you not just load the LinnDrum samples into a Maschine Kit?

When maschine 2.0 comes out the step sequencer will be complete and wonderful

probably but i think about the other vsts i have like i have a great linn drum kit for addictive drums. it wouldnt work there either. this is something i think they should have made sure was possible. maybe in a future update.

I've tried some bass lines with the step seq, but I'm into more organic bass lines, not the 303-ish stuff. But it was nice.

I do want to sequence some CCs too ;) I can hardly wait for 2.0

i have made a Template/Project that sends out MIDI on all 16 Sounds on two Groups.

you can use this to send MIDI to Battery 4. it also works with the Step Sequencer. i just retested in Ableton Live and it worked :)

EDIT: to clarify, in Ableton, Maschine is on one MIDI Track and is sending MIDI to another MIDI Track, where on this occasion, i have Battery 4

I tried that template but I don't really get how it would work. Do I open Battery stand alone? Or should I open Battery inside of Live and then use the midi out inside of maschine to trigger Battery?

in Ableton Live you have two MIDI Tracks.

on the first MIDI Track you have an instance of Maschine and you load the Maschine Project that i have uploaded.

on the second MIDI Track you have Battery and load any kit you want.

on the Battery Channel, in the MIDI From dropdown menu, select the Maschine Track and in the dropdown menu below choose Maschine. for Mac users please note you have to use the VST version of Maschine!

let me know if this helps?

Do you mind sharing how you got all of this to work right? I was in there messing with midi batch setups trying to get it going properly.

if you look at the individual Sound MIDI Settings for each Sound you should be able to work out the main part of the settings.

    however:

you do need to use the Controller to change the Base Key for each Sound so that it matches, the settings in 'Sound MIDI Settings'. to do this, press the PAD MODE (used to be KEYBOARD) button, and on the left screen you should see BASE KEY above the third knob. change it so it has the same setting as the one in the individual Sounds, 'Sound MIDI Settings'. so for Sound 1 in Group A - which i have named MIDI 36 - the Low Note, High Note, Root Note and Base Key, are all C1.

    does that make sense?
