Has anyone had a chance to figure out if the KK ARP will write midi data into Logic Pro x?

when I use KK in Logic Pro x and try to use the ARP, it will PLAY the midi data, but doesn't not write the midi data. I have not had an oppurtunity to check this, but is it still the case?

If Logic works anything like other DAWs, you need to create a separate MIDI track and make the track with KK in it your source.
There likely is a place to allow KK to pass through its MIDI in the KK track's settings as well.

let me be more specific. I'm sorry for how vague the w

it does write midi data. but what won't get written is if I am using the KK built in arp function it only write in the base note of the chord it arpeggiating, it won't fill in the extra midi notes. so if I turn the ARP function off after creating pattern I want, it only plays and has the single original note, note the extra stuff. if I use one of logic pros plugins or synths, alchemy is a great example, and I'm using my s-88 it will write the arp midi data n its entirety , provided I am using alchemy's arp.

I knew that was what you meant, and that is why I told you you needed to create a second MIDI track and make the KK output its source. You also need to set the first KK track to output its MIDI so the second track can access it. There is a video on it on YouTube somewhere - I'll look for it for you.

Ah - found it -- though it is about FL Studio the same principles work for any DAW.

that only works with vst not au2 plugins , which logic uses ,somthing to do with outputting or receiving midi , either au dosnt output it or logic dosnt receive it , I think it's the latter , the new logic update supports midi out for au 3 plugins so it may come in the future

yeah, I'm not able to do it....
the closes I came was with logic open and I used alchemy and turn the arp on that. its includes the arp data in the one midi data one, instead of showing all the notes that are being hit in Mascine... even the internal plugins with logic won't do it....
Machine has spoiled me... and it really sucks that its not a full DAW.... because it really has a couple of features that you don't notice until you try to work with something else

I'm sorry -- I did not realize this limitation of Logic. Is there another inexpensive DAW you can use just for this kind of application? Like Harrison Mixbus ($79) or the free Ardour for Mac?

Hey @AureVoir - I have this working now. It's a little clunky but the big breakthrough for me was to run the standalone KK app and have Logic drive it via a Logic 'external midi track' NOT as a software instrument track. Logic then seems to record both Arp. and Scale data to the MIDI track. This circumvents the limitation of the KK AU not passing-through Arp and Scale data, Logic sees the standalone app as it would a piece of MIDI hardware and records the complete output. The downside (at least until I figure this out) is that to play it back, you'll then need to move that MIDI clip to another track with a software instrument on it - but that could actually be a second instance of KK as a plugin. SO... KK Standalone to record.... KK Plugin to play back.

    Hope that helps

Hmmmmm, do you think that it would be possible to do something similar with the Maschine plugin?

So I have made a discovery. For me, simply opening the Komplete Kontrol program by itself and not routing anything through Logic Pro, I can open a KK plugin, and it will write the cords. Just have to have it opened. So weird.

Could you elaborate a bit further please? I seem to be doing exactly the same as you describe but it ain't working.

For example, what do you put on the input and output on that External Midi track?

    Thanks!

Yes, AureVoir, can you be much more specific on how you are doing this? Thanks for a detailed description
