I had FM8 installed and activated on 10.4.x, then upgraded to 10.5 and of course it continued to work fine. I needed to erase and reinstall my system (PMG5), so I installed 10.5.1.

Now, when I try to activate FM8, Service Center says its activated OK, but each time I open FM8 it says 'not activated'. I click 'activate' and it takes me to Service Center, which successfully activates it, then I try to open FM8 and it says its not activated... and so on.

Not had much help from NI, but I would think *someone* here has to have managed to activate FM8 on a clean install of 10.5.x, as its been out for a while.... or am I on the bleeding edge here, hurting myself?

Incidentally, Kontakt 2.x installed, activated, and works just fine, so it seems the problem is with FM8 rather than Service Center?

I gave up waiting for NI to come up with a solution and I think I have fixed it myself.

    Here's what I have done:

Installed 10.4.5 on an external HDD.
Copied downloaded FM8 1.0.3 installer to external HDD.
    Booted G5 from external HDD.
    Installed FM8 on external HDD.
Successfully activated FM8 on external HDD.
Copied the following files from the external HDD:
    HD > Library > Preferences > servicecenter.plist
    HD > Library > Preferences > fm8.plist
    User > Library > Preferences > servicecenter.plist
    User > Library > Preferences > fm8.plist
    User > Application Support > Native Instruments > FM8 > database
Copied all these files to the appropriate locations on the G5.

    Problem solved.
