Has anyone managed to use ONE midi controller with 2 Programs simultaneously?

    I am trying to incorporate the sampler section of VDJ, in conjunction with the Traktor Pro software.

    Therefore I have went out and bought a small Akai LPD8 to trigger those VDJ samples (horn, lasers, etc.). But I have also realized that this controller would be great to control the amazing effects of Traktor.

    However, it seems as if the Akai LPD8 will only control one software. I can't allow it to be detectable by both VDJ and Traktor. Assuming this is normal, I was wondering if you are able to use one Midi controller with more than one software, at the same time.

    IIRC, VDJ uses 12 sample slots (usually mapped to F1-F12). I'm pretty sure that skins can add more sample slots though. AFAIK, Traktor is limited to 4 per spare deck. (so probably 8).

    iKalando, have you tried it yet? I think it should work just fine (provided that the two programs don't conflict).

    Well having Traktor 2 would be easier than trying to set up Traktor and VDJ and then trying to control them both with one controller...

    @OP - When do you want to trigger 12 samples simultaneously?

    Oh, sorry. I'm an S4 guy. TPS4 is so close to TP2 it's not funny. I've never had Traktor without sample decks and a loop recorder.

    So what did all you guys do for samples before TPS4/TP2?

    It actually wasn't hard at all. Not only was it easy, but it was a money-saver. Why spend 79, when there are free alternatives? I also use 4 decks, so it would be really a waste to spend money on TP2 when I can't even use the samples on TP2.

    I managed to use the MidiYoke + MidiOX solution. But I appriciate the help guys.

    Before TP2, all we could do was wait man! Correct me if I'm wrong, but not a lot of DJs using Traktor was too hyped about the desire for samples anyway... but at least we have them now!
