has anyone successfully routed XLN XO into maschine VST then back out into their DAW?

i was looking to get XLN XO, but i don't see maschine vst being very compatible with it. i've seen videos where they route XO into maschine, but they also use the output to go back into XO in order to trigger the right note, and if that isn't done, the note just won't play. So the output that i would normally route out to logic pro using ext. source would be already used in that case. What a shame.

    anyone try this?

What output? Audio? Why would you route XO's audio back to itself? Give the link to the vid you're talking about.
I forgot to buy XO while it was on black Friday discount and my demo has run out but maybe I can still help out.

    i was watching this video

but i realize i could just keep my maschine output template as it is routed out to logic per usual. i haven't tried it, but will check out the demo and see if my theory works.

it just sucks that i'd lose the "keyboard" function on the mk3 with this workflow since a different note on the keyboard would be a different instrument in XO.

Only if you want to... That video is describing how to use the plugin in Pad Mode, you can very well use It in Keyboard Mode if you want.
I have no idea why he said that in keyboard mode you "have to use the piano roll".

BTW you can export complete drum kit from XO (unprocessed sounds or processed by XO filters, amp, etc) by single drag+drop action. It will automatically fill 8 pads (I usually load XO on pad 9). Than you export beats as MIDI events and again – single drag+drop and it fills the events for each corresponding pad in the pattern automatically... Than use Beat Combiner to create new beat and export it to pattern 2, etc.... very fast and easy.

really? i'll seriously just have to try the demo then and maybe even go for the splice rent to own. let me know if you ever get it yourself. do you plan on using it with maschine/maschine VST/MK3 hardware?

Ye. Think of it as the NI Abbey Road drums instruments.

I've tried every drum/sample sorting software under the sun a few weeks back when I decided to somehow organize years of sample hoarding. I was planning on using XO mainly with my DAW, having it inside Maschine then Maschine inside a DAW is too much inception and routing hassle for me.
As cool as it is I can't justify it's price tag, if it was around 50$ I'd buy it in a heartbeat, I feel like Audio companies really need to update their pricing strategies... make it 50% cheaper, sell 300% more means more $$, more users, more popularity.

well i don't mind the routing thing since it's already part of my template and if i can just get it to work with my hardware how i'd want, then i'd just be SET. We all know problems pop up outside of what we expect though.

Have you thought about splice rent-to-own? i heard you can pay $4/mo. for XO . as much as i hate monthly payments, that doesn't put a dent in the bank account at all.

edit- it's $5 for 26 months. man, screw that because i don't want to pay for ANYTHING for 26 months.

I think some companies are beginning to realise that, though in some cases (*cough* Softube)..... rather timidly.
XLN seem to have sales pretty frequently, so you should be able to grab it before the next Black Friday.

Exactly... I think it's really cool to have that option available but it's so strange to pay for a plugin in an Installment way, it feels like I'm buying a car, a house or a similar big commitment. It's more of a principle thing, I don't think it's worth that price tag... Perhaps it's because I am only interested in a couple of features it offers.

I tried it for the drum sorting thing and replacement by similarity, that's pretty awesome but I also really liked the fact we can switch up patterns and they just work altho I had zero interest in all the built-in step sequencer.

Yeah, so many companies are stuck in the past and still operate like only people with expensive studios make music like it's somehow still 1997. If I have a DAW worth 250$ paying 200$ for a specialized plug that only does 1 thing is so odd nowadays (*cough* *cough* soothe2). Scaler is 50$ and it's at the top of the Plugin Boutique sales, that's the example to follow imo.
Thanks, I'll keep an eye if it goes on sale again.
