So how do you find out genius? You go ask the to get traktor crash or ni who actually says it should work?
Fan boys like you are sad.... here is issue that matters for many out there and here you come with cheap remarks. ..
You are a sad man and if you don't have anything meaningful to ad better not waste other people's time

Just a thought, the mixer boots up in standalone mode.

If you get a software crash, unplugging the USB and resetting the mixer should work as an emergency solution.

Did you try to pull the usb cable? I know, it would be a workaround, but saves some time in case of a Crash.
But i have to say, that he is some kind of right... This "Feature" should really be absolut standard. And i am pretty sure, nobody would have found out this issue via the product manual.
Has the NI Support confirmed this? Maybe there is something wrong with your unit?

hi yes I tried the usb cable plug. didn't help only a full restart of unit does....
not having this feature is like having a smartphone that dosent write txt messages... everyone assumes that smartphone do that right? so blaming someone than the product in that case is poor way looking at it . ....
I spoke to support about it may be faulty unit but so far they assume its full working unit or they would have offered a change I guess???
we will see, I hope it is a faulty unit that can be changed.

So you do have an emergency solution then. Just unplug the USB and restart the S8. Sounds easy enough?

Can't even believe that you are serious. Like I said if you don't have anything useful to add to the thread just stop wasting other people's time.
Maybe you are a little fan boy or a employee of...
Post on this thread if you have a suggestion to the problem or if you have further info about the mixer on s8.
save your cheeky lines for your self.

As someone else said, the point of this forum is not to bitch or to call people names but to help each other. We're trying to help you.

Of course you still need a fix for the Traktor crash but at least can you confirm that unplugging the USB and resetting the unit does switch the S8 into standalone mode when this happens to you?

Confirming this could help others that have the same issue.

as I have stated from my first post a restart of s8 is needed. and that's what the problem is, the need of a restart..... that shouldn't be needed on a standalone mixer!
anyway don't try to look innocent. anyone reading your comment earlier knows what you been at anyway.
the only persons who have done posts with the right intend to help been lauchi and dosgrrovy...

There allways tome wasters allways about. I mean did you provide a single beneficial point in post in this thread? ?
Secondly when every standalone mixer in the world does exactly do that. S8 is like a smart phone that can't do text messages. You expect that from a standalone mixer that cost 100£ let alone 1k!!
The only reason I can think for that is because it's made cheaply and badly planned. .

The support been pretty useless so far.
Would be nice if ni managed to make a hardware that just worked.
I can't call this a truly standalone mixer as long as it crashes. Safety options should have been there as audio through.

It would be nice to get a statement from NI.
Can a software or computer crash also shut down the mixer stand-alone function?
That would be really pretty bad. Then no real backup would be given function.
Until today my unit works without problems, but it would be important to be sure it can´t crash the mixer function.

For a temporary fix if you don't need 4 channels try to switch one of the channels to standalone mode before the crash and see if this channel works after the crash.

So it's shitty then :( wait for them to fix it or return the unit or sell it, and buy djm-850.

Wish I could return. .. as it is I can't play more than 2 hours on it before it crashes. And need a second mixer too...
What boggling me is ni support.
They didn't even offer to take look at the unit to see if it's faulty... I guess that's as much you can expect from native support. Anyway hopefully traktor 2.7.2 will fix the 2 hours crash problem. If not than have to sell it and get a proper unit that works and move to serato which seems more stable than traktor.

I would recommend to try use different laptop/computer, sometimes this is the cause of a crash. I sometimes get freeze on timecode when my wi-fi in laptop is active, go figure ;)

I used s4 with same laptop..
i7 , 8 gb ram, ssd harddrive... and gpu with 1 gb memory.
I am not going to buy another laptop.(every time there is a problem I should buy a new laptop??)
The problem is traktor and native hardware/driver
One of the reasons many have problem is because they can't use multicore support on traktor because of a bug that been there now for some years. (Would have thought it should have been fixed by now).so all strains goes on one core...
Native care more about bells and whistles than a good standard of stability.
Let's see what happen on 2.7.2...

    "STAND
"STANDALONE MIXER" that's what the ads say, a standalone mixer does not crash, your dead right mate and your dead right to be pissed off.
I too was going to buy an S8 as I thought a software crash could be circumvented by swithing to a CDJ plugged into chanel 4 or something to get away with having to bring a seperate mixer, I currently use a Mackie DL808 desk with an ipod plugged into it in case of a tractor crash.
I thought if I bought an S8 at least I wouldn't need to bring anything else. the reason I looked up the forum was to see if anyone is having issues with the s8, your post was most helpful, I'd be from your school of thinking!
