I find it extremely easy. I own many products and never once had any issues registering. Did you call the company? I'm sure if you call them with your proof of ownership or serial number, they can get you setup rather quickly.

    my point is:
paying customers shouldn't have to do this whole online registration thing.

    1. NI assumes that every customer is wired to the www.
q: is EVERYONE on planet earth linked to the web ?

    2. as screwed up as microsoft is, EVEN THEY dont have this asinine procedure.
this is the only software outfit i've ever dealt with that FORCES paying customers to run through this thing...otherwise the software will not work at all !!!

    3. it's only to "protect" their corporate interests. this "online registration" scheme does NOT help customers one bit.

i am NOT going to call them unless it's a last resort on my part.

needless to say... I AM EXTREEEEEEEMELY FURIOUS :(

    A: More or less, yes.

So, you haven't dealt with very many music software outfits, I gather? Most of the music software I use (quite a number) demands online OR e-mail authorization, based on your hardware signature.

It does help customers inasmuch that rampant piracy would otherwise rob the company of remuneration for development and support, and they might go out of business. As a musician looking for sexy software, you'd be the loser.

A little bit childish, isn't it? Being extremely furious will only affect one person negatively – yourself.

    Best regards,

    Joey

Apart from having the correct OS, I had no problem authorizing my system. Authorization is part of buying software, like it or not.

If your so called "pro" friend thinks that being a pirate is cool, then they don't deserve to use the software in the first place, and with any luck will find themselves on the defending side of a lawsuit.

Utah_man, did you try the offline registration procedure? It may work better now than it did back in November/December. Also, you're in the US--did you try phoning support? It's probably easier to get through now than it was when this stuff first came out, and they should be able to clear it up for you.
I've had my share of problems with Service Center and K4 activations, but I'll still take a challenge/response system (which SC basically still is) over a dongle- or PACE-based system.
Your last post proves a point that has been made by many in regard to copy-protection schemes, however--they only end up inconveniencing legitimate users; the pirates (like the friend you describe) will always find a way around them.
I do hope you get your B4 II activation problems solved, though, and have no others.

second, if NI’s piracy watchdogs are as capable & speedy as their customer support is, they will never catch anyone at anytime.

As with any high end software, most usually require this type of registration.....deal with it. With most CAD software with costs up to $1000 or up, they use a hasp key...limiting the program to run on only one computer....the one that you bought it for...ya know? Know why? Cause who's going to spend all that time programming software for you, the user, so you can go around and copy it to everyone elses computer. Of course it's there to protect assets for NI, if they didn't make any money doing it......why do it? And if your so called "FRIEND" is so absolutely brilliant in ripping of NI, you're really ripping us off.....no more products cause there's no money to fund it! Pull yer head out of yer arse and just deal with it!

    Hi utah_man,

did you already write to our registration support? If yes, could you either give me your tracking number or send me your registered email address in an email. You can do this by clicking on my nickname and choose "Send email to Marius Wilhelmi". Thanks.

    Marius,
is it possible to help another fellow out who is in the exact same registration nightmare?

The offline registration software corrupted my entire system when trying to enable Battery 3 upgrade - and because of this, Battery 2 is now defunct because 'the hardware footprint has changed'.

As it stands, after performing the offline - online shuffle, the resulting activation nof file seems to be accepted, but both Battery 2 and 3 are listed as still locked (even though the text says the software is now okay to use) - and then the program crashes.

My latest tracking number (which hasn't been replied to) is:
    RS 160147

Shame on Native Instruments - quite unacceptable.

Precisely the same problems occurred when I first tried to install Battery 2 a year ago.

Is it a wonder why people hack software? - it's got to be quicker than waiting for tech. support from Native Instruments isn't it? - where's the support for the genuine customer (i.e. me and many others).

You know, why does everybody feel that they need to fill up a forum with their registration woes. Do we all need to know about it? Do you want to hear about my washing machine registration issues? I didn't think so. The point is, this is a personal matter between the buyer and NI. It is not rocket science. If you are having this type of issue, just call the tech support number that is in your little manual. We don't all need to know or hear about it. I thought this forum was a place to discuss tips, techniques, and Music?

    Well,
the subject is quite clearly entitled 'hate registration crap :(',
so it was your decision to enter the thread, wasn't it?

What were you expecting to read? - a short story about salmon levels in the Scottish Highlands?

Your missing a quite crucial point, there isn't any UK phone support in the Battery software manuals (there isn't any phone support listed), and there hasn't been a response from Native Instruments to my registration 'woes'. So what would be the logical step do you think? - to post for assistance by likeminded folk.

Listed on this site is the suggestion to join the forums for help, which I did.

I think the word is exasperation, it's the point at which you try anything to acquire assistance.

It's not rocket science to understand that, is it?

    Hey Utah,

I have to agree. this sucks!! even though i have an extremely healthey internet connection, i still can't register. the service center say's i have a demo version. this happens on 2 of my macs. So hey, don't feel bad maybe if you had an internet connection, you'd be even more angree.

If anyone reads this and has better advice than the NI tech support. Wich was:

"well, as you can see in your screen grab, your Battery 3 update software needs a previous full version installed and registered to your account in order to be registered and put to work.

    sorry!
    Best regards,
    Mat

I got this response even after i, in great detail, explained to tech what was going on. it was like he didn't even read my email.

    Anyone else have this problem?

    Hello scooterjay,

the Battery serial you try to register to your new user account is an UPDATE serial, which needs to find a FULL version of Battery in the same account. This can have the following reasons:

    a) You have another account where a predecessor version of Battery is registered.

    b) you have bought a wrong version of Battery.

    c) for some reason you have goth a wrong serial number for your correct purchase.

that is - in part - what forums are for...
if you don't like reading about other's REAL problems...then LEAVE.

Wow Cool...Native Instruments sold you a washing machine ?
does it need asio drivers ? how does it sound with a Leslie Tremolo ? will it run on my Linux Ubuntu ?
