Hi - i bought a Maschine yesterday and installed in on my main pc - i couldn't for the life of me get it to work - basically the software seemed to install ok - but then when i connected the maschine - it flashes across all the buttons for a second then goes blank. Then i get an error messages about "problem installing this device" bing bing in windows - usb device failure.- i emailed NI this morning - no response as of yet.
When i did the initial install i downloaded and installed the updates.
So ive now uninstalled - and trying again.

So i thought it would try my laptop - i installed it and the same sort of thing happens - somethimes it will light up - and sometimes it wont - so i unplug the usb and eventually it works -although every time it says that there was a problem with the driver - and i get the sound in Windows where a usb device has failed to connect 2-3 times - but on the laptop occasionaly it will work.

Still havent got it working on the PC - reinstalling the software as im writing this.
In both cases its in a powered USB (not a hub) running Windows 7 64 bit.
Specs of both machines (pcs) are high main PC is Core i7 6GB Ram - Soundcard Focusrite Sapphire Pro 24 on PC.

Have you installed the latest Maschine driver? If not, do so. If so, try uninstalling the driver, restarting the computer and then reinstalling it.

    Driver

Yes - i believe i did do that correctly - after the initial update i installed the updates that were downloaded form the service manager - this time i will try to install from the disk - and not allpy any updates except the driver to see if that helps.

Did you not install from the disk to start with then?

i did thanks mr36 and i finally found out how to fix it - many thanks for your interest - maybe you should get a job at NI as you at least answered my questions pretty much instantly - NI in restrospect havent bothered in 4 days :(
I will post the answer tomorrow as i have had a few light ales now - for the benefit of other members who may be tearing their hair out over this like i did for four days :)

Hmm... I've had mixed experiences with NI's customer service. It's usually been good. After a while. Though sometimes been pretty instant. Suppose it just depends on the workload etc. Obviously no consolation for the user though.

And I'm very glad you got it sorted. There is little more frustrating in this world (or at least the music-making world) than not being able to play with new toys! :p
I'm unfortunately experiencing a lot of crashes with the beta and so haven't been able to play with my new toy for longer than an hour at a time yet, so I feel your pain.

is that the beta of 1.6? I dont even think ill be bothering with that until ive learnt how to use this version now i have it running :)
So for anyone who looked at this thread and was in the same dispear as me - i got the answer from this thread here - http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=128481&highlight=maschine+windows - particulartly the bit at the bottom that a user called clayraw posted:

    What did I did:
    1. Uninstall drivers with USBDeview
    2. disconnect maschine
    3. reboot pc
    4. connect and let windows recognize the hardware
    5. uninstall the drivers in the device manager
    6. disconnect maschine and reboot
    7. install new driver software
    8. reboot
    9. connect Maschine. VOILA!

Yes, my crashes are with the 1.6 beta. Though it does't seem particularly widespread. Just my misfortune. :(
