Well I was pleasure listening to my music, using the S4 as my external soundcard, with the audio settings put to 24 bit 96 khz. As I listened, i noticed right ear cup was softer.
But when I plugged the headphones into my computer headphone output and ran a headphone test, both earcups were at the same level. Test was done with ipod, and turned out the same.

Is there a way to fix this on the S4? or is this just a defect?

It could be the adapter for the headphone jack.
Check to see how tight the nut is on the s4 headphone jack. many have had to tighten that. dont tighten too much though.
Also my sennheiser headphones with the screw on adapter never fit well i had all kinds of issues with it and had to keep moving it to a certain spot to work.
    I eventually got different ones.
software wise look in the software at the levels to make sure both are the same. Maybe also check the usb connection you need 2.0. As 3.0 is not reliable for streaming audio.

Oh never mind the software. forgot you are just listening to computer not playing tracks.

But also is the s4 connected with a/c adapter for extra power. it may need to be.

well, that doesnt make a difference. its only the volume that should be controlled when using the S4 as just a soundcard for listening. i already tried that.
it also appears to be more clarity on the left

how do i tighten the nut? my ATH-M50s are pretty much in perfect condition. and like i said, only the S4 has this problem. ipod and computer dont. And yes, my S4 is on the power supply, and i am using USB 2.0

Tighten the nut if loose with small adjustable wrench. mine was so loose when i first used it the whole thing wiggled around. even though the headphones are in good condition. my issue was with the adapter and since it was a screw on adapter. and other headphones gave me no issues. I solved it with differeny headphones

if it is not a headphone or socket issue then try listening to the s4 through a home stereo if possible and see if the speakers are different volumes.

of course there could just be something else wrong. Not much else i know to tell you.

Try moving the headphone jack around and see if you get any change also. mine had to be turned to a certain spot to keep from cutting out. it was quite annoying
