I just had to post this just in case someone looked at the Blue Mikey mic that plugs into Ipod.

I spent money today to get it at GC and plugged it into my Ipod and it still gave me the "No mic is installed" message. I tried the Irig Microphone that plugs into the headphone jack and THAT ONE worked...but I didnt like the quality so much.

The Above is the link to the mic I am talking about. I am kinda sad it wont work in imashcine but I have other uses for it.

Apple killed the mic line in on the dock connector starting with the iPad 1 (so the same thing applies to iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and in all likelihood any future iPod touch).

Mikey isn't compatible with any of those devices (nor is any other comparable dock mic), so I'm not surprised that any new app doesn't support that functionality.

Looks like its going back to GC. It sounds great...but if it is not going to work for apps..then whats the point. Guess I need to go get the irig mic again.

With the camera connection kit you can connect a number of USB microphones (including Blue's Yeti), although I'm fairly certain that trick is limited to the iPad currently.

Also, you might want to file a bug with NI to see if there's anything they can do on the software side to get it working, as Mikey is compatible with your iPod Touch.

(Also, for any iPad users who stumble onto this thread, the camera kit+the Samson Go Mic makes for an interesting field recording solution.)
