Did you also receive a license transfer key or software or anything to register with?

did you install any software to use it???

The clue is in the thread title... Actually, the answer is in the thread title: MASCHINE controllers need MASCHINE software to work and be of any use*.

    * With the exception of using it as a generic MIDI controller (though you still need the driver and possibly Controller Editor).

I bought it from a person on Facebook Marketplace. In box, barely used. They didn't have a serial card and when I registered it gave me the "serial number in use". I own Maschine Essential from M32 already so I didn't think it would be an issue. I plug it in and no usb is finding anything. It powers up and sits on screens and wont let me update firmware or anything.

I use a Macbook Pro 2012 Mid with Catalina. I can't see and Midi In or Midi Out as well as Firmware. It's usb isn't connecting. When I plug in the USB it powers up and stays on the Maschine screen.

    Reset mac pram smc

    Reinstall the maschine software
Do t worry about the firmware updater atm

Do you have any other music software installed

Can you switch the controller to midi mode

    Try different cable

In addition to what Al said above: the Maschine's screens will actually tell you if it's properly connected. So from the screenshot you shared we can determine that you have a connection issue because the Maschine doesn't mention anything about MIDI mode and the need of software on the right display. Once it has a proper connection with your PC then the screens will show a different message.

But yah, Maschine without software.... you can switch to MIDI mode (only with a proper connection) by hitting shift and channel (= upper left button) but to get the most out of it you really want the software. Worst case scenario is that you could buy it separately.

Soooooooo I reset the Pram and am trying to re install Controller Editor and I am getting a fail to install error message. Just reset the laptop. Also, this screenshot of About My Mac, the Maschine wasn't plugged in. I will plug it in and take a new screenshot in a few minutes :)

Check native access’s preferences to make sure it’s downloading to the right place or a path that exists

It looks to me as if you just don't have the Mk3 driver installed. As previously suggested (if you can), uninstall and reinstall the MASCHINE software (without the controller connected), which should (re)install drivers.
