I know there is no mute automation in the machine software, but is there another way to record a (live-) performance (other then audio mix)?

I mean you can do great performances with machine, but where is the point, when you are not able to record performances and edit them later?

The only way is to use maschine in a daw. This is something we've been requesting from day 1.

You can also route maschine out audio to a daw. Or vlc player yo a maschine in.
There are some ways to route audio between applications. When i have more spare time i will try configuring JACK or maybe directwire.

I've not tried this but you could try internally sample one long audio file onto a pad. This should work if you're only recording internally and have no external instruments to record but this method is probably not advisable. I don't know how well Maschine copes with large audio files you see. Worth a try but like others say you really are best getting a free DAW and recording that way.

Can anyone comment on this method

EDIT: When you say audio mix, do you mean the method I just mentioned? If so ignore all that :p

for this purpose what I often do is open maschine outside of my daw in standalone and i agregate my sound cards (very easy on a mac... not sure on pc)
so I use my Traktor card for maschine and my m-audio project mix for logic. and route out my mains from my traktor card into my project mix. and record it the same way I would my mpc.
