    Hey guys,

Santa gave me a Native Instruments M32 and Komplete 13 bundle for Christmas so I could learn about synths and electronic music. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choice and the power of what I now have. Komplete has 14 different synths! Where do I start?

Any recommendations for which synth to start off with? The ideal starter synth would also have lots of YouTube or other training materials available.

    Thanks,

    - Mark

Monark would be a decent starting point to learn the basics of synthesis.

Original Massive is also very straightforward and Syntorial has lesson packs for it.

Nah, I'd go with Absynth myself ;) Because that synth provides almost everything; from FM synthesis to grainular synthesis, and we all know that's the hot stuff :D

Honestly OP.. I don't think you should worry about what synth, instead try focusing on the methodology behind all this. Frequency modulation, pulse width modulation, subtractive synthesis, additave synthesis, granular synthesis... once you grasped some of the basics then you'll soon learn that a lot of synths have a lot in common. After which it doesn't really matter what synth.

And yes, then Absynth comes into play again because it happens to support nearly all of the above ;)

Monark is a good start. After that, I'd say pick Super8. Awesome polyphonic synth with very clear layout, so you'll get the hang of it very quickly. :)
