to start off with you don't need an external Audio Device. if your Turntable is a USB one, then you are good to go.

if you want to record vocals, then you will need an Audio Device.

Macbooks tend to have mini jack ins and outs... look at the specs on the Mac website.

    13 inch is fine.

why are you so upset with the Mac apps that come with it... you never know you might want ot use them... especially Garageband

USB turn table? I was planning on buying what I had in past, Technics 1200 -- Unless they have some new Millenium edition, I was not aware of a USB connection on the 1200 -- I would hate to have to get anything other than a 1200
    ---
I just did an internet search for a USB turntable -- Does this mean you sample into the computer and not the Maschine? I don't know how I feel about that -- I want to sample into the maschine like I would with an MPC -- Is this possible?

The maschine does not have any audio connections.

You're sampling to the computer regardless and the maschine controller itself is just a controller.

However, with maschine, it feels like you're sampling to the hardware because all the controls are there. You would just have to initially set it up to take from the turntable.

As for getting a mac without software, once you get it you can just delete to your hearts content. It isn't like prepackaged windows software that is a pain to get out, on a mac you just put it from the applications to the trash and empty trash. Nothing else.
