    Hi guys (and gals).

I've just bought an Omni Control and i've been having a nightmare installation! I read it should be plug and play but i've not seen any proof yet! I'm guessing it's down to user error though...

I got the controller 4 days ago and once I got it out the box and put the installation disc into my laptop I couldn't install the Traktor software or USB Audio Drivers required as the files appeared to be missing! I contacted Numark and was told their tech guy had just left and was given his email add so I sent him an email (i've still yet to get a reply!). After waiting for a day and no reply I decided to phone again and spoke to the same guy I think about my issue and he said it was odd but would send another disc out to try. So, after waiting 2 days for this disc to arrive I decided to phone again, and speak to the same guy again about my problem, to which he said he will send me another disc, it's been lying on his table! Pretty annoyed at that but i'll let it go.

Out of curiosity (and I don't know why I didn't think of this in the first place) I decided to try the disc on another pc and found the files to be there! I've no idea why this is as both machines have the same OS installed (Vista). Anyways, I copied the files to a pen drive and installed them to the laptop.

The audio driver seems to have installed ok and the traktor software is installed but i'm having bother getting traktor to recognize the contoller as a midi device. I set the controller up as the default device during installation but it's not working.

    Here's what happening:

Audio is being sent to controller and works fine.

When I go to the following in the program there is no midi device to choose from:

    File, Preferences, MIDI Setup

The only dropdown I have here is "Supported MIDI Interface". There is no device option in the Active/Port boxes.

I'm really lost now and looking for some advice ;)

    Thanks

    Bryan

P.S. This may sound totally silly but should the controller light up when connected? Mine doesn't and I would have thought that something would have to indicate it has power.

    Update

Just some info from my issue with this.

I have managed to get both traktor and the omni controller working on my desktop pc but traktor still doesnt work on the laptop for some reason.

If anyone knows that would be great, if not i'll post what I know when I find out ;)

    Further Update

I really don't know what is causing this problem and I think i've tried everything possible to get it working on my laptop but still no joy:(

Right now, I have Traktor 3 LE installed on both my desktop and laptop. When I connect the controller to the desktop and open Traktor it works fine as both an audio device and midi device. When I connect the controller to the laptop and open traktor I can send audio to it but the software does not recognize the omni as a midi device.

I also have mixmeister fusion installed on the laptop and the omni works fine as a midi device in this software:confused:

So, it can only be one of 3 probles causing this:

    1. The drivers for the controller (But they are working for the fusion software)

    2. The software (but the software runs by itself and uses the controller as an audio device

    3. The OS (Both my desktop and laptop are running Vista SP1, the only difference is that the laptop has Home Premium and the desktop has Home Basic)

Could it really be down to the variation in the OS?

I'm lost and don't know where to go from here...

    same here

I just bought new omni control, I have macbook pro with os x 10.5.6, and after installation of a driver and reinstalling and registering traktor LE it just doesn't recognize controller just as a sound device. There's no response on midi and that's why I think none of the LED on the controller is lit...

I'm pretty sure it is a thing with the previous controller I had it was a numark total control so I think the drivers override the newone.

    any help appreciated

    ;)

I just bought my Omni 6 weeks ago... It's have been a mess since then... 4 weeks to late caus they were out of stock. Finally i got it 2 weeks ago, still not working..
Exact the same problem that djdici describe.
I don't know if it's Numark to blame or Traktor..

I live in the netherlands and the company where i bought this from is trying to help but the still don't know what to do.

The sound card (device) works perfect, only the whole control panel doesn't light up... And all the buttons and faders doens't work..
Do you think i has anything to do with de optional power adapter ?..
Maybe the laptop doens't provides enough power.?

    Maybe some help for you

Hi Nathan, hopefully I can help you out here as Numark product support certainly won't!

After spending countless hours trying to contact Numark and trying to get them to offer some advice I ended up giving up on them and managed to somehow solve the issue myself! SHAME ON YOU NUMARK! Get it sorted!

I have still not managed to find an answer to why the installation disc was showing up as a mac cd rom when I inserted it into the laptop? Strange indeed...

Firstly, any problems with the Traktor 3 LE software is the responsibility of the controller or other hardware manufacturer (i.e. numark). I've already asked NI about this.

    Now...

Q1. Is it a mac or pc system you have? If it's mac I'm not sure what the problem could be as mine was pc related.

Q2. Have you installed mixmeister fusion and does MIDI work in this program?

If you have installed mixmeister fusion and the MIDI is working with that then you are having the same problems I did.

Here's how I got round this:

I read somewhere that you must install traktor via an admin account on your computer. I had previously done this several times but having tried everything else I decided to try it again from a different approach.

I created a new admin account then deleted the 2 existing ones that I had. I then removed the drivers and traktor software from the laptop and rebooted. I then installed the drivers and rebooted. Finally I installed traktor and it was set up! Couldn't believe it!

    Hope this helps m8 ;)

If you have any logitech software or items plugged in or installed, like a webcam or keyboard it will not work.

    Hi there,

I bought the omni control yesterday and didn't manage to get it work with traktor.

    I'm a little pissed off... ;)

I'm on a MacBook and I'm really interested about the way you've found to solve the problem.

    thanks

    hey there,
I solve my problem by myself, sorry I haven't let you know... The problem was probably in mapping files, because I used numark total control before and somehow it had a bad driver or I don't know what. Anyway, I renamed the old "traktor 3" folder in my root directory, reinstall traktor LE and tadaa it worked, then I moved my settings and playlists into new traktor 3 folder and it works...

    hope it will help you

    thanks for the answer pista.

    I'll give a try.

The weird thing, in my case, is that there is no MIDI component detected and no way to add one...(in the MIDI setup/supported midi interface... ?)

The Omni control is detected (and seems to work) in the audio & midi configuration on the macbook though...

    I don't understand.

It's been two days that I'm trying different stuffs with no results.
I remember reading the book that says "do this, do that and the omni control is now ready to use". ah ah.

I will delete all the traktor components on my HD and try again, hope it works.

thanks again for your reply pista :)

Hey all, I also have the exact same problem.

Windows XP SP2 laptop trying to configure traktor 3 LE with the Omni

I can use the Omni as a sound device but it is not detecting it as MIDI device even though I can see the sound and midi device in the control panel / devices.

When I try and configure the midi device in traktor all I get is "Supported MIDI Interface"

So lets take tracktor out of the equation as from the test below I get the same results

I have tried the Omni with Ableton live and the sound card works but the midi device is not detected.

are there any plans to update the drivers?

Any help or suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

    Edwin

Hi there, I have the same problem with XP SP2, Traktor doesn't show at the Midi devices any device. I could make it work on the Traktor 3, with a midi map file found on one of this forums, but the lights dont turn on.
I have talked to numark support (after 1 hour wait), but they don't have any clue, they said they will get in touch tomorrow.

    Hi guys,

Just to let you know that I got this to work, and it is really awesome, just the way I expected!
    What I did:

    1.- Uninstall Traktor 3 & Traktor 3 LE
    2.- Unistall OmniControl driver
    3.- reboot the machine
4.- plug the Omnicontrol to the USB port
5.- follow windows steps to install new hardware
6.- Install the driver from the original CD (supplied by Numark), following each step (unplugging, then plug, reboot, etc.)
7.- rename Traktor 3 folder (inside My Documents), and delete Traktor 3 LE folder (inside program files/Native-instruments)
    8.- Install Traktor 3 LE

and every thing works just as expected, the light turn on, the jog wheels are so great, faders, knobs, etc.

Good luck to all of you.

    Software not recognizing MIDI device

    Hey all,

the problem I'm having is that traktor 3 le is not recognizing my omni control as a MIDI device, although it does recognize the soundcard and my os recognizes the omni as a midi device.

I'm using mac osx 10.5.6 on a mac mini ... any help will be highly appreciated!

    thanks!

The way I used to solve the problem was desinstalling all traktor related stuffs that were on my hard drive before reinstalling it from the CD provided with the omni control.

    It works fine now.

    I have same problems

    Hey everyone,

I also am having problems with my Omni Control being detected as a MIDI device in the included Traktor3LE. I also heard that the Omni was meant to be plug and play but obviously not.

luishinos i am trying what you did to get yours work right now. Ill right back after im done and we'll see how it goes.

Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?

    Thanks
    ---
I think the problem here is that the included drivers on the cd install the ASIO and soundcard part of the Omni Control fine, however it doesnt address the MIDI device side of things.

So much for the plug and play capabilities after "installing some simple drivers"

I think luishinos was right in saying that when you plug in the Omni control to a USB port without having the drivers installed, windows will automatically install the MIDI device side of things for you.

Still working on getting mine up and running though :(
    ---
Ok finally i got it to work on windows vista on my laptop with help from luishinos and djdoci

    thank you both so much!

Hey duncan, how did you make it work? - I think the problem is not the driver, is the traktor 3 le software itself. My omni works perfectly with the 1.6.6 driver (found at numark's site) and MixMeister.

    Thanks for all your reply's...

I found something on the internet, that solved my problems..

This is what i found on a dutch site (interstateaudio).

    ...............................................................................
    # Waarom werkt mijn OMNI control niet met Traktor LE?

Waarschijnlijk is de juiste installatie procedure niet gevolgd.

Deze staat uitgebreid beschreven in de handleiding. Hieronder de verkorte versie:

    * Stap 1. installeer allereerst de driver
    * Stap 2. Reboot
    * Stap 3. Sluit "NU" de controller aan. (zeer belangrijk anders gaat het mis)
    * Stap 4. Installeer nu pas de Traktor LE software.
    * Stap 5. Rock & Roll!
    .............................................................................

    Translation:

    # Why doesn't my Omni Control work with Traktor LE

Probably you didn't used the right procedure..

This long version is described in the manual. Here the short one:
    1. First install the driver
    2. Then Reboot
    3. "NOW" Plug in the controller. (otherwise is will go wrong)
    4. Now install the software of Traktor LE
    5. Enjoy!

I hope this work, ow and my brother managed to get rid of the trail version.
