Do you have the ProTools bundle? I believe its the only version of Battery in RTAS format. As I don't own Battery, I can't tell you how it operates within ProTools, but I think it works as an RTAS plugin to a channel, and not as an Audiosuite plugin (which are used to process audio tracks).

Assuming you have a registered version of Battery, have you tried NI tech support?

I have been waiting many months for the standalone RTAS version, but NI refuses to sell it. I ordered an 002 this week, and would love to get Battery for it, but I've read that Direct Connect (the other way to get Battery to work with PTLE) doesn't work with OSX. There have been comments about an OSX version of Battery, but its hard to believe it will ever see the light of day.

    Good luck,
    Dave Patterson

October RTAS? Can it be true???

    Mindnoise,

Well, this would be nice. I hadn't see a scheduled delivery date. Is this posted somewhere? Is it safe to assume that it will also be available as a stand alone product to purchase? Do you have a link with ANY information on this new version of Battery?

    thanks for your post,
    Dave

What version of PT are you running,,what platform,,PC or MAC,,and what OS,,?
As it stands there is no RTAS version of BATTERY out side of the studio bundle,,if you are using PT5 then you can use BATTERY as a direct-connect plug,,if your on PT6,,then you gonna have to wait till the end of this month,,apparently,,

Thanks for the OSX compatibility link. Its been a long wait, but I hope that Battery does ship this month. This program is in need of a major feature upgrade, not just compatibility to OSX. As there is no "grace period" listed in the OS compatibility chart, its hard to tell what the upgrade costs will be, or if there are new features.

    still waiting,
    Dave

upgrade costs: (read the small print)
    * = update fee if the product was purchased before the Grace Period: 49,- Euro/Dollar plus shipping (including all new interfaces), or online download for 29,- Euro/Dollar

no additional features! Just OS compatiblity upgrades.

    no additional features?!

No new features??? Just OS compatibility? How long has it been since Battery has been updated? If this is true, I would assume that this will be the end of Battery. If they haven't made any improvements by now, they never will.

Well, if there are any new features NI has not mentioned them. NI was working on their Upgrade on all products on a quite tight scheme and were likewise occupied with that. What the future brings is wide open. But my guess is that after that really big issue solved they can concentrate on product features, as the platform issue is a much greater step that some innternal code. But sure, the pace of their output is quite slow. But who´s isn´t.
digidesign working now for nearly a year to solve digi002 issues etc...

Okay,,so here's a punt,,why not let us have the option of trading our BATTERY 1 licence for INTAKT wich seems to be a better version of BATTERY any ways,It can load BATTERY,REX 2 and AKAI formats,,is able to beat slice a loop,,although i'm not sure about wether you are then able to save them as sliced loops,or even as REX files,,now that would be sweet.
Point is,,all of these features are what i would like BATTERY to do and i cant see how BATTERY can be added to with out crossing over to what INTAKT will do,,
Theres also all of the added filters,,FX,and EQ's that are available with KONTAKT,,
    What do Y'all think,,??

I´m with you! (but why do they put fuel in a car when they drive to the junkyard?)
BTW: Intakt is for LOOOOOPS! and where do you take the (drum)loops from? Hint:record them with Battery?
in the creative way Battery is much closer to Kontakt than Intakt!

I'm the jerk in the Absynth forum screaming about the timing for the XP RTAS update. So my question is the same here. Is the Battery update on schedule for October. Again, this is a delivery I have seen get pushed back again and again.

Its encouraging to think that Battery may be finally available in RTAS format, and compatible for OSX. That's very good news, whenever it actually does ship. Is anyone really expecting an October release after such a delay?

What sucks is that NI has sat on the RTAS OS9 version for way too long. Their greed has keep current Battery users from having RTAS version, unless they caved in a paid for the ProTools bundle. This is a very bad policy, and says a lot about Native Instruments "concern" for their customers.

It will be a real drag for current users if there are no new features. How long has it been since the last update to Battery? Would you buy a program if you knew it wasn't going to have new features added down the road? If the OSX/RTAS version of Battery has no new features, would you buy it? Would you want to wait another year, or longer, for a features upgrade? Hmmm, imagine what other products will be available by then.

This is kind of the point i'm trying to make,,What new features could be added to BATTERY that would not cross over into what INTAKT is going to have right from the get go?
Thats not to say that BATTERY is a dead product,,it's appeal is that it is a very simple and functionale sample host.
The only features that i can think to add to it would be the ability to scale map a sample automaticly for bass samples, and to also include a drum synth engine along the lines of and 808/909.
Personaly,i'm thinking INTAKT is looking like somthing i would want to use,,and i would be sold if it exported REX files and we could trade up to it from BATTERY.

We had the Battery features discussion a few months ago and polite me compiled the hole thing to a neat handout. Do a search for "Battery features"(by Chis Borgia) and/or "summary"(by me).
perhaps you can find some inspirations from this list what Battery also needs.

The new release schudule is posted and Absynth moved from October to November for RTAS (Win XP), but Battery remained in October. So, things must be going well and we'll be able to at least use the system again, even if it is without any real updates. Yeah, make me pay. I don't care anymore, I just need software that works with ProTools...
