Ok first off I played around with VDJ & Traktor at a friends house. I like traktor better VDJ has a easier interface but Traktor just feels more professional to me so I know that will be my software.

Now for the main part of my question I am looking at getting either the Numark Mixdeck or the 2 of the Numark NDX 800's. Has anyone used both of these units and which one would u go with. A friend told me he loves his mixdeck because it is an all in one unit and he doesn't have 2 carry around 2 decks & a mixer. I played on the mixdeck & I like it but I have also used a set of cdj's and liked them as well and the ndx's are more in my price range than the cdj's. Planning 2 buy next week so any help is greatly appreciated. Oh and my computer I will be using is a Macbook Pro 13" 2.26 C2D 2gig ram. Oh I will mainly be DJ'ing small parties. Not trying 2 do clubs (yet)

If you are looking into an all-in-one controller and will definitely be using traktor check out the Kontrol S4....otherwise there are a plethora of controllers out there. That section of budget Numark controllers is so-so in my opinion but overall...it comes down to skill and budget...not what fancy equipment you have.

The S4 is about $100 out of my budget right now plus it doesn't play cd's. I need something that can be a controller and play cd's.

Even the cheapest CDJs cost a ridiculous amount. 2x CDJ and a mixer will cost about the same as the Traktor S4, and you might not get the same compatibility and integration.

Portability is another factor. 2x CDJ + mixer weighs a lot and takes up a lot of space. You'd probably need a flight case too, which isn't free either.

A CD setup is a lot more expensive and a lot less portable than an all digital setup.

I'm using a Reloop Digital Jockey Interface Edition and a Novation Launchpad in my budget setup. If you know how to mix, it works.

Gemini has been on the rampager this year. They showcased a device that functions exactly like what you are looking for

Or you could get two S-1200 from Denon.

Hey guys first thx for all the replies....After playing at my dj friends house with Traktor I see that I can insert a cd straight into my laptop and Traktor will automatically recognize it without having 2 restart the software and I'm assuming it does the same thing if u insert a flash drive into the computer. I didn't know that it would do that at first that's why I said I wanted something that could play cd's as well as be a controller. I didn't have that with me 2 try out. But this changes my thinking now I am thinking I might just go strictly controller based like the mixtrack pro. Now time 2 start more research 2 make sure that it seemlessly works with traktor but I saw in numarks demo video the guy was using traktor so I'm sure it does. But thx once again for all the help & if anyone has any input on the mixtrack pro I'm all ears.

Really, get the S4. Or wait a bit to see Traktor new version and see controllers adapted to the new features.

All the older controller will be obsolete when this new version will come out.

But if you use the CD drive you'll only be able to have one CD at a time...? Does not compute.

Fzang, The CD drive isn't the main function as I am gonna have all of my music on a external HD, being able 2 play a cd is a option to have because at some of the house parties I do we have local artists come in and perform and they have their stuff on cd's. So I won't need 2 have 2 cd's at once. I just needed the ability 2 play a cd.
