I have download an old track that when I play mono, (which is how my audio set up is) and only vocal plays back clearly. Its like the instuments have been panned and recorded left and right and playing the track back in mono cancels them out. The track works in an audio editor played stereo.

Is there a plug in I can run the song through to remove this cancellation when palyed in mono?

    Thanks

Did you actually tick the mono checkbox?

Thanks, yes checked that (but its the sort of thing that is so easy to miss). Its like the the vocals have been recored in the middle and the instruments panned left and right and they have cancelled each other out.

It definitely sounds to me like either they used the pan when recording it, or something was stripped out when you downloaded it. You said that it works fine in a stereo player though so it's unlikely to be the later.

The vocals couldn't have been recorded in the middle and the instruments on the left and right as there are only left and right channels (stereo). More likely that vocals are left OR right and catching a little of the 'spill' from the mics when recording, and the instruments are on the other (left OR right). Don't know of any plugins, but you might be able to get around it but playing it in stereo and re-recording it with your own recording equipment if you an keep the sound quality. Alternatively you will have to play it in stereo as it was intended to be.

    Thanks, Sachmana.

Think the re-record is the solution. will try that.
