    Hi all

this is a first time posting, forgive me if this subject has already been brought up.

I am/was a 100% vinyl Dj that is now trying to convert to using Tracktor. It works reaaly well and I am happy with it, but I really need advice on how to maintain/organise/sort my music.

I have a bunch of crates that I lug around to gigs. Flicking through them before and durring the gig help me choose what I am going to play next, but I am finding it extremly hard to do the same using the Trakor music list. Especially if I stuck for what to play next, I can't just flick around and find something to inspire me.

Any body else faced with these issues and solve them ?

    thanks all

First of all, make sure that all your tracks (or as many as possible) have cover art embedded. That's probably the single most effective method of helping you "feel" out the tracks. Yes, it's a pain in the ass if you got a couple of hundred songs, or even worse if it's a couple of thousand. But it is worth the time spent - trust me.

    Create a (sub)folder for each genre:House/Techhouse/Trance/Hiphop etc.
You simply add each new file to the specific folder, so you have everything sorted.
You can create playlists with your favorite tunes for an upcoming gig, so you have all tunes in one folder and less searching to do.

Don't forget to tag your files with the correct info, otherwise it can be a mess when you have thousands of files.

    I agree with autonic.

This tool found a cover art for 9/10 songs, it's really great!

I know what you mean but it just takes a bit of getting used to.

When I went form vinyl to cd I experienced the same issue....and then moving from CD's to Traktor the same issue again. It's just what you're used to. I do agree that the cover art helps though!

    Thanks!

    HI All

Apoligies for the late response, but thank for the advice. Good to know I am not alone!

I will take it all on board and start the lenghty process of sorting my music, and yea I belive cover art is the way to go and filling in the tags is esential.

    Thanks!
