He's bought an NI pedal, and he's non-technical. He's sent emails to NI support but is flummoxed by the answers. He's not the first clue about what to do. His sustain works fine, but when he plugs the volume pedal into the expression port of the S88, it doesn't do anything. He wants to control the volume through the expression port.

He said that he was directed to controller editor ... but he can't make it work. He sets the setting to the proper CC for volume, but then nothing happens.

Can anyone give me some insight on how to make that work for him?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

That may help, Chris. It's not a sustain pedal that he's connecting, but it gives me a process to follow that may lead to a solution. Another problem may arise in that the plugs themselves may not be set up to respond to the CC's he's trying to implement. I'll play with that today and see if I can get things to respond. Thanks!

Ok, report back your experience, but I think it's better to consult support.

    Hi
I know this is a year ago, but I had the same question when I got my S88 recently, and I believe I found the solution, but only if you're using the Komplete Kontrol software, and only while it's on standalone.

So while the the keyboard is on (obviously) with KK running, hold the shift button on the keyboard, and turn the large nob on the navigation section clock wise to raise volume, and counter clockwise to lower volume.

While your input is appreciated, what you have described is how you adjust the master volume of Komplete Kontrol and that will work both standalone and in plugin modes (Shift+Browser Knob = Master Volume). This is nothing new.

What the OP was asking is how to use an attached expression pedal (one that acts like a controller but operated by foot) to control volume.
