Hercules Console

Why can you not set up a separate forum for Hercules Console Users? NI advertises this controller on the site so why doesn't NI support it more? The support from the company that makes it is not good. I have had some questions since getting this. Overall, I'm pleased but:

Will NI update the software?
I am having trouble importing Itunes. It used to work but now it suddenly doesn't. Was this due to the upgrade to Itunes 6? The answer from Hercules was "I guess NI will fix this issue on the next update". He suggested to me that I take all my tracks out of the itunes folder except 100. Start TraktorHercules, let it import the tracks, then restart and repeat the process. Well, I don't want to start messing around with my library and I have nearly 5000 tunes so I would have to do this 50 times. Come on NI, what's the problem here and why isn't it being fixed?

Why don't the lights work when using normal versions of Traktor e.g. 3.0?

Why can't NI put up some .tks files for users to try?

Does anyone have .tks for version 3.0?

Really hope NI can answer my queries. I've been very frustrated!

This is taken from the NI page advertising the Hercules Console edition of Traktor. Note the "large collections" - Hercules is telling me to import 100 songs at a time and interfere with my itunes database.

COME ON NI - sort this out!!!!!!!

After 4 hours of trial and error I have actually been able to find out what the problem was but still not able to say exactly why. The problem was removed and then it worked.I won't be telling NI directly as they have ignored this post altogether and I've had to solve this myself with no support. I wonder if anyone else has had a problem importing itunes into any version of Traktor.......

 

Why is Ni ignoring this post?

 

Included with the stripped Traktor Hercules edition is a standard tks installed for having the DJ Console controle your Traktor. When using another version of traktor you have to program each slider and knob yourself. This is quite easily done in the preferences midi setup section. It takes some work, but you het to assign every knob to a function you think is important to u. Then offcourse you save yoru settings.

When using the DJ Console like this, the lights will not lit. This is expplained in the Hercules manual. But the console will still control your Traktor perfectly.

As I am using Traktor 3 I can not say anything about importing from iTunes.

 

I have decided to use traktor 3.0 now too. Do you have a .tks done for Hercules? Would be great if you could post it....... No, it would be fantastic!

 

For some reason I can not attacht the tks file ? This forum does not accept the file type. Take your Traktor 3 manual and go to page 102. Follow instructions step by step and you get to customize your Hercules Controller as you wish. Also, you get to understand how traktor handles all functions. A bit of an effort and some experimenting is needed. But worth the benefit. I even have my Hercules DJ control setup now to control the 4 decks major functions.

My advise is not to use the jogwheels to cue your waveform. The jogwheels are easily touched (and heared!) when trying to reach other controller buttons. I find it easier to cue the waveform with the mouse.

Perhaps you haven't looked at this yourself. NI states that any support needed should be sought from Hercules directly. I think this is ridiculous. Especially as their support is PATHETIC and any software questions are met with the response of "contact NI". Now why are we getting the runaround? I'd love to know what NI really think. Why are they not supporting their software directly? Hercules didn't write the software, NI did. So they should be able to give direct support. They should also do the same for Final Scratch!

That's correct. Or Hercules comes back with an answer so short and helpful it's laughable. Or they say contact NI.

Hi fellow Djs. Happy New Year! You are so right about being told by Hercules to contact NI. I just wanted to know how to move or erase the cue points in the Traktor Dj console edition, and they said the question was beyond the scope of their knowledge(something to that effect). Well I contacted NI, and that's exactly what I got..... NI..No Info! But I'm glad I found this forum. After using Dj Console for a couple o gigs, I was gonna buy Traktor3, but if the Herc doesn't work without programming, then it would be a waste for me. I like the lights letting me know what's going on, because I usually have to sit my powerbook off to the side and can only glance at it! Also the usb set up is fast and simple. It's a Godsend when you're in a hostile environment and the other dj waits till the last verse to switch(little hip-hop nasties). I sure hope Traktor3 will fully support Herc users in the future.

Peace to all Djs, Pros and Amatuers alike. Stop hoggin the sets, it does not make you any less obnoxious. Have compassion for those who are not as good as you... they will be someday! Those of you that are learning... do just that.. you cannot become a great dj overnight (anyone can play hit songs and get a reaction, it's what you do in between that counts). Once again:

Thanks for your post. Someone else got the same reaction as me. Although I've heard of other people doing a little better. The biggest joke has to be why they haven't put up their .tks file on their site. They've got one so why not put it up. The other "thing" is on their support page for the Mac hercules they have 2, yes two support questions being answered. When in fact, judging by these forums there should be around 202.

The Hercules users deserve some help and a good support base.

 

I heard a 'secret' rumor about the tie up being dropped(don't quote me). Maybe that's why little support???
