The entries are all so different, lots of talent and very inspiring for me. I feel that other entries sound really crisp but mine feels a little less crisp.. advice from anyone would be good.

The first thing you have to focus before compressing or limiting is EQing.

What helped me a lot is using a frequency analyser (like the free SPAN: http://www.voxengo.com/product/span/) on my master channel to check if all the frequencies are well spread across the range for my track. Then I look at the track as a jigsaw puzzle of frequencies, meaning: lots of eqing. Every instrument has its own place frequency-wise, but also in volume and stereo image. I am still struggling very much to get that balance right, and I think I will be struggling for many more years :)
    Hopefully this helps a bit!

Everyone's advice has been great here. If you are going to look into analyzers, Flux has a pretty nice free spectrum analyzer if you have a Focusrite piece. If not, and what I use the most is Blue Cats FreqAnalyst. The rest is just EQ and compression makes a huge difference and can help the track to just feel better but I also think it's a difficult thing to learn. Mixing/Mastering has been the hardest part of making music for me beyond just coming up with good ideas.

Thanks guys I'm gonna look into some of the things mentioned, I've been trying to get my head around EQing, looking for a visual aid as maschine doesn't seem to have one...Or not that I've managed to locate anyway, but yea I'll check out some of the links awesome tracks everyone

That same company I sent you had a graphic eq that is pretty good. I have trouble EQing without a graphic eq too. It makes more sense visually. For me, I think looking at your music as something with depth helps a lot and each sound needs to have their own place. Some things need to sit in the back of the mix furthest away, some things need to be in the front, some things should sit in the center. And, not everything needs to be EQ'd it's good to remember that. I'd start with just using subtractive EQ and then move from there. Sorry if that's TMI or if I'm overstepping just wanna help out.

Wow, you guys produced great stuff!
I wasn't able to participate on this event.
I'll spend my three votes later. This isn't going to be easy.
    Thx for the tunes! :):):)
Great to see the amount of participants. We should always have some "more" weeks to finish a project.... ;)

Anyway I could post my track to the downloading thread? I had it posted to soundcloud yesterday, but didn't realize the separate forum opened for voting until it closed. No biggie if not.

Damn... I feel your pain. Had PC problems myself over the jar few months, but still have my mbp in play, so it wasn't a total disaster... Good luck getting it all sorted...

Anyone else having trouble voting ? So many choices, styles, etc. Some really nice entries and newcomers to the battle, which is very refreshing. I'm struggling on whether to vote for my genre preference or based on sheer skill of the composition. Tough. I'm probably going to wait until the last day or two and give all the tracks another couple listens before I vote. Really try to make them count. Will provide some feedback on each and every track too. Great battle guys !

very refreshing battle I agree, many choices, many different approaches.
But I quickly found 2 tracks I love the most , it is 100% my genre.
Everybody brought his best material, that's great.
