Dunno if youve seen this, i just bought it last night

    http://www.hollowsun.com/HS2/products/gui_shell/index.htm

I generally use Lives Sampler when making one shot instruments but this got me diving straight into kontakt, for novices like me its brilliant...had me scrambling through old sample packs...around $12 i think (its priced in UK pounds)

    Another nice one from HS

Interesting. Makes me want to multisample my Minibrute. Is tracking down a copy of Redmatica Autosampler the best way to achieve this? And secondarily, presumably I wouldn't be able to distribute the instruments I create?

That is correct, as stated in the manual. :)

You could redistribute the samples though...dropping them in this is simple

I might tackle my prophet for fun...only got a virus with me just now though

You can get the User Guide HERE

Make of it what you will! :)

    :)

Thank you ... and you have understood the entire concept of The Shell. It's aimed at people like yourself - novice, people who don't have the skills (or the time) to do scripting, people working to a deadline who can't be arsing around in Kontakt's EDIT pages ... just pop your samples into the MAPPING EDITOR and then have fun tweaking the scripted panel.

All the work's been done for you by one of the finest scripters in the business. No filters, LFOs, envelopes, etc., to be assigned and set up and likewise with effects - nothing to do there either.

That said, there's enough advanced functionality for the über user with groups for stacking colossal sounds.

Glad you're liking it and having fun with it.

    Cheers,

    Stephen

    Inspired GUIShell

    GUI Shell

Nice one Hollow Sun and Mr Evil Dragon

Even if you're experienced using Kontakt this ones a real time saver

And great for dusting down, quickly improving and making far more usable 'older' sample library collections.
Such as legacy libraries from Emu / Ensoniq / Roland days

I like the clean GUI too

    Another thing I like is:
Now the parameters are in a script
Kontakt will save - and remember the CC assignments
Which means I can also have uniform performance CC's across all my Kontakt instruments that don't have a script - or a particularly poor script (quite a few of those)

    Kompletely Recommended!

    Ideas for GUI-Shell V.2
A separate page dedicated to the FX "8DIO" stylee
With some nice fancy graphics script that make them look far more desirable
And perhaps some more convolution presets to choose from too.

    Ideas for GUI-Shell V.2.5
The ability to assign groups to the 16 sub buses and have some fancy sub mixer page

Those suggestions are nice, but would raise the price of GUI Shell, which was not the point when we devised it at Hollow Sun. Your v2.5 suggestion would also limit it to K5 only, and HS wants to stay with K4 for as long as possible.

    Wot he said ^^

Sorry - I've been out and about of late (I do actually and occasionally have something of a life outside The Lab here! ;) ).

Thank you for your kind comments and your suggestions are eminently sensible but as Mr Dragon points out, it would raise the price which was contrary to the spirit of The Shell - something cheap and cheerful and easy to use with everything on one page to keep it simple for a broad range of users. Your suggestions (welcome as they are) would require something of a re-work of the GUI. Maybe there's scope for 'The Shell II'. Worth considering perhaps.

But thanks again and glad you like it.

    Ha! Very good. :D

    Cheers,

    Stephen

    Hi Stephen

I'd be happy to 'shell' out more money for GUIShell V.2

GuiShell working very well here thanks - breathing new life and adding much needed control into 'older' sample libraries.

Glad you like it, David, and are enjoying using it ... more importantly, finding good uses for it.

We shall consider 'The Shell II' (why does that sound like a sequel to a substandard sci-fi film that's probably heavy on CGI but light on plot?)! :)

    Cheers,

    Stephen
