    Hello there

So recently I just got myself the Traktor S2 controller and the Traktor PRO 2 Software. After activating the software, I started going through my files to double check and see which ones are working or not. As usual, I came up with a couple that wouldn't work and tried to figure out how to get the changed.

However, this is a weird one. They now say m4p and won't play at all, and when I try to get them changed in iTunes it won't allow me to. Usually, I always found there was a way to convert without any worries, but it's happened for a good number of songs (even ones that already work on Traktor) so I wanted to get a better understanding for it.

Anyone have any ideas and/or tips? Anything would be helpful, especially cause I'm trying to get started on mixes soon and it hurts to know I can't play some of my key songs.

    Thanks!

P.S. I'm using Traktor on a Macbook Pro.

In the iTunes settings, you have to check that the import format is MP3.
This should then let you right-click an MP4 and convert to MP3.

That said, if iTunes is not playing the Mp4 in the first place, there seems to be something wrong with the files/s.

m4p files are DRM protected. (that's the "p" at the end) Make sure you are logged into the itunes account they were purchased with, (assuming they're from itunes) and I'd guess you should be able to convert them to mp3 in itunes. But it's been a while since Apple has sold any DRM files, so I really don't know if itunes still converts, or even plays them.

If that fails, you could burn them to audio CD in itunes, and rip the CD, or if there are only a few of them, repurchase them in the unprotected format.

Thanks Deucer, I over-read M4P and read MP4 instead .. Hence you can ignore my previous answer.

Are you trying to convert m4p to MP3 using iTunes?
    1. Download iTunes according to your computer system. Then launch it after installation and go to the iTunes tab > Preferences on Mac, or if you are using Windows, edit > Preferences.
    2. Go to the General button and click Import Settings, select MP3 Encoder from the Import pop-up menu, then click OK to save your settings.
    3. Select the song in the library and click File > Create New Version > Create MP3 Version. Now you will convert them, just wait for the files to be ready, and you will find your MP3 songs in the iTunes library after a while.
