The needle is skipping like hell but the playback position always stays exactly the same.... I thought that this was was Relative mode automatically did, but when I move the needle about on the encode vinyl the playback position jumps about.

I'd also like to get this feature sorted incase of dodgy club set ups with jumpy needles, so it doesn't affect the playback position.

Can anyone shed some light on the issue?

    Thanks!

    Just select relative mode.

Straight out the manual: Relative, this mode recognizes the speed of the cd player/turntable, but not its current playback position. Therefore, the position on the timecode cd record does not correspond to the position in the track.

Absolute, in this mode, the position on the timecode cd/record corresponds exactly to the position in the track.
In other words, like you play real vinyl or cd's.

Relative is the icon beneath the deck without the tonearm.
Absolute is the icon with the tonearm.
    Just click it.

I already have it in Relative mode - my point is that this doesn't prevent fine skipping, the playback jumps about slightly (like 0.5 of a second) so, for eg, when scratching, if I needle drop, it doesn't return to EXACTLY that same position, it's slightly off...... I want to achieve exact playhead position like in the video - this is also the case for if a little bit of dust is on the record, the needle skips and so does the music (not much, but enough to ruin a beatmatch mix).

The only thing I can think of, is that your timecode records are worn out and so are your needles.
My old timecode records which are heavily scratched, jumps sometimes but that's only
after a pause, not so with beatmatching or when I hold the record and the platter is still spinning.
Indeed, when the needles pick up some dust, the timecode readout is worse, when the record is worn out, timecode readout is worse too.

How do your panel scratch circles look when you play?
    Round or disturbed?

Well I only bought it 2 weeks ago, so it can't be the timecode's that are worn out. My needles aren't very old either and I've tried various other needles too. My scratch panels circles are pretty solid and round too.

The thing is as well, my friend who purchase TSP a month ago has had the exact same issue, his needles are quite new. He's on a PC with Windows 7 and an Intel Core 2 processor.

It seems like we've just got our settings wrong?

You have selected Timecode vinyl on your soundcard?
You have adjusted your tonearm weight?
    Your records are not warped?
Otherwise I don't know what's causing this and you bettter contact techsupport.

    Definitely have Timecode vinyl selected.

Adjustments to tonearm make no difference.

    Records aren't warped.

Ok, thanks, I've opened a case with support.
