    Hey guys,

as I use Traktor since over a year now, i started to use functions like cue-points etc. some months ago ...

My question today is: How do I write the cue-points I already set into the track in order to store them or kind of "back them up".

I already looked for some answers in the tutorials on the installation CD but I couldn't find any useful help.

It would be great if you guys could help me out, since I'm afraid of loosing the cue-points after moving tracks.

    Peace ;)

Traktor writes cue points and some other info such as beatgrids into your audio files automatically. To my knowledge, there's only one (trivial) exception to the above: if your audio files are write-protected, traktor won't be able to modify them.

but how then do you explain the fact that just yesterday I had to re-cue half of the songs of a playlist? :(

my explanation is that you were too lazy to read the manual thus far. from inside traktor, go to help -> open manual.

read ch. 5. pay particular attention to the difference between the collection and explorer nodes.

hm, chapter 5 - collection, thats still not the thing i was looking for.

or lets say it is, but its strange somehow, that (only some of!) my cue-points disappeared from one day to another. And if you say TRAKTOR does write them tags automatically, it is even more strange.

Maybe you have an answer to this problem ;) i firstly thought, that this occures if i move the files on the hard drive ...

    Thanks

I've had the same thing happen to me before in the past, randomly. It seemed to happen right after I imported the files, if I started setting cue-point immediately. Then the next time I loaded the files, they were gone. What I do now is I leave Traktor alone while it's analyzing, then when it's done, I refresh the folder they're in before I start doing my cues/grids.

There's some people that will come off so condescending on here *ahem*, just acting like total know-it-alls. Especially about the "Collection and Explorer nodes". The only way you're going to have an issue w/ the Explorer node IMO, is if you start setting your cues/grids/bpms BEFORE importing the tracks into the collection. Once you've imported and analyzed, it doesn't matter if you work from the Explorer node. That's where I do all my work, since I have folders for each month. I'd much rather work w/ my new files in these smaller folders, instead of the huge Track Collection. People on here will try and claim that's the reason you had the problems, when I've personally seen that NOT to be the problem at all in my case. Traktor is just glitchy w/ stuff sometimes, although some won't like to admit it. But that's why I try and do things carefully w/ what I've seen to work in my case, by analyzing first, and then refreshing before making changes. Then when I've done my work on each track, I lock them. And very rarely do I have those issues anymore. Good luck

    yes, it is.

ch. 5 tells you how to import tracks into your track collection and what the collection does. you need to import tracks and then work with the node labelled "Track Collection" in the browser tree. once the tracks have been imported, don't work with the "Explorer" node in the browser tree.

and, once again, make sure you have write permissions over the tracks in your collection.

I already had this strange reactions but with bpm lock. Sometimes I find one of my track unlocked and I am sure it was.

98% of the time i read something like this, it's a phantom bug.

the user claims it's a bug but in fact it's either a PEBKAC sort of thing or an accident. The unlock might have been a mouse misclick, an accidental keystroke, or accidental button hit on your controller (remember that BPM unlock is mappable). or maybe you were drunk. etc.

unless you provide steps that reproduce the issue, i remain highly skeptical that this is a real bug.

You could have just pointed him in the right direction, sometimes manuals aren't helpful unless you know what you are looking for.

    Drunk, NO! Etc, maybe....
And I didn't say bug, but strange reaction. And I won't loose my time to try to create this again.

I'm not sure, but either way I don't do my initial work in there. You don't "need to", as people continue to say (as long as the tracks are already imported/analyzed). And I've also seen tracks become unlocked, losing all the stored cues/grid (after editing the Title tag from the Collection node!), but of course you will see the same know-it-alls tell you that's impossible and your fault. Right. :sarcasm:

Why is info disappearing at random? Tp2.6

I just loaded two different tracks into decks A and B, both tracks have been analyzed days ago and after mixing for the past hour I now press the browse button on the S4 to look at other tunes to play and I notice that the Cue Points I had set for the two tracks already loaded into deck A and B have vanished along with the orange check marks next to both track titles showing they have been played AND the orange letters "A" & "B" showing what track is in which deck is gone? It's like I never even played them (even though moments ago both tracks had multiple cue points stored, check marks displaying their played status and the orange letters "A" & "B" next to the corresponding track tittles displaying which track was loaded into which deck!) This is the second time I've had this happen and it's kind of scary that something as important as the "Played Status" can just Disappear. PLEASE HELP. yes, I have read the manual and NO, using the explorer crates should not be causing this issue.

    Weird....

Every time I close out of Traktor it says writing tags to file (cue points).

Perhaps it's somewhere in the settings?

Question to OP: which edition of Traktor are you using? Traktor LE does not support saving cue points.
