How do you changing a library from breath control to MIDI keyboard control?

I recently downloaded a library that plays back silently. It turns out that the library was designed to be used with a wind synth or breath controller, and I only have a digital piano (and no mod wheel or expression pedal). The library requires something to generate breath pressure data on CC#2. I would like to change this to either key velocity or, if nothing else, control by the sustain pedal or a key switch, or even a knob on my audio interface. (The creator of the library suggested I change it to CC #11, but I can't find anywhere that has a 2 that I can change to an 11, and besides that was with the assumption that I have such a thing as a mod wheel, which I do not.)

I clicked the wrench and made changes anywhere I could see to make them, and it's still silent (all my other libraries work just fine). I am very new to Kontakt (as of about 2 weeks ago; I got the full version of Kontakt 6 for my birthday, because it opens up whole worlds of free libraries beyond the Soundfonts and VSTs I've been using for the past few years). I don't know enough about Continuous Controllers to figure this out without asking for some help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, since the only thing I know to do at this point is take the samples and create a new instrument!

You could use the KSP script called "Alias Controller" which basically transforms one CC# to another. The bigger issue you have is that you do not have anything to generate another CC#, as you stated you do not have a Mod wheel or Expression pedal which would allow you to "mimic" a breath controller. You could try the KSP script "Midi Controllers" that basically creates an interface with Knobs that allow you to set different midi controllers to send.

so load your instrument, then on the Multi-Rack Bar click the KSP Button then click "Presets --> Utilities --> 6 Midi Controllers"

an interface will open, Change "Knob 1" to Midi CC 2, then you can adjust the knob with the mouse to see if you can get sound. This may be a bit cumbersome as a breath controller is designed to respond to the force of your Breath and trying to mimic that with a knob may not give you the desired results.

    Hope that helps.

May I ask what the Library is called?

Edit: I downloaded a Demo of a library called VG Trumpet and using the KSP Script "6 midi controllers" I was able to use the knob to control CC#2... you can either set it to a value and it will play at the articulation for that value, or as I stated, you can use the mouse to change the value in real time.

Blindeddie, Thank you SO much for your help! Worked like a charm. Of course key velocity would be ideal for me, but at least I can use automation for the dynamics, until I get an expression pedal.

It would have taken me months to figure this out on my own, if I ever did figure it out at all! You saved me so much time and frustration, time which I can now use to actually work on the song! :)

The library is Clint Goss's Beltrami library, one of 7 flute libraries that he has released under a Creative Commons 4.0 attribution license. Beltrami is the oldest known Native American flute in the world (circa 1820). Available for free download here:

It came out less than 2 months ago, and I'm not sure that anyone really knows about it yet.
