Thanks for that answer. I was hoping to get more value out of the Z2, if I did get it. But, having to buy an F1 anyways kills the value when we're talking about cue point and remix decks.

You can look at it that way. But I look at it at as the buttons on the Z2 are for convenience. Since I had the F1 first before the Z2. I still use all 3 X1, F1 and Z2. Even though the Z2 can do most of the things the X1 does to me it's handy to have the X1. Because the Z2 is lacking the effects knobs. It has some but not enough.

By any chance do you have access to an Rane SL1/2/3 or 4?
There is doubt out there as to whether the Z2 can be mapped for ScratchLIVE's functions.

I would like to know if the Z2's Pads can be assigned to Cues, Loops, & Samples.....whether the endless rotary for Library Scroll can be mapped to do the same thing in ScratchLIVE......whether the EFX/Dry&Wet Knob can be assigned to The Super Knob within ScratchLIVE's Effects Section......and finally, if the Z2's Faders can be assigned to ScratchLIVE in any way at all.

This isn't solely a request for brocklambert....if anyone can "confirm" that this works, please chime in. Thanks.

I have the SL4 and you can map some functions on the Z2 to SSL using control editor. But to how much you can actually map I don't know because I don't feel like spending time playing around with SSL at the moment.

Too busy enjoying myself with TSP2 and the Z2

Did you ever consider the Pioneer DJM-T1?

I love it and can't imagine a better price for this unit. The way I look at it, Traktor at one time was like $600 so for another $200 you get a free mixer? uh yeah.

I can't rave about it enough, it's the best mixer I've ever bought so far. My only complaint is the 1/4" Mic input, I mean really dude?

WOW! That Rane 62 is no Joke! Maybe all you need to do is trade in your S4 for some F1s?

I think using the 62 for anything other than ScratchLIVE is a colossal waste of money. What makes the 62 cost so much is the (2) Soundcards....which Traktor cannot take advantage of.

I would agree if he was not going to use Serato anymore. But, I don't know if that's the case. I'm forced to use both because the clubs mostly use Serato, though I prefer (at the moment) TSP.

Well, then that makes perfect sense ;)

Just like whenever I decide which mixer to buy, a DJM900 or Kontrol Z2, I will not be selling my SL3, 'cause I know there will be situation where I will need it in the future.

I just don't know which mixer makes the most sense to buy......the price point of the Z2 is sooooo compelling!

If they had added Send/Return to the Z2, I wouldn't be having all this doubt about which mixer to get.

What are you going to use along with your mixer and do you do club gigs also?

Well, I always made it a point to buy mixers w' Send/Return in case I wanted to use external effects. I have this awesome pedal delay that I like to use, but it's not a integral part of my setup by any means.

As for playing in clubs.......occasionally, but hardly ever these days. If I do play, it's usually at a small party (rave) that happens to be held at a club. I haven't aspired to play the club scene....not really a fan of the music that is played in clubs. I'm more of an underground music kinda' guy.

I realize that the 800/900 are the standard for clubs, and if I want to feel comfortable playing at them, I should get one of the two. It's just, I am oldskool in that I really care about sound quality, and frankly, I'm not a real fan of the 800/900's metallic-like sound. Hell, I'm skeptical as to whether the Z2 is going to be up to the task as well. But at the same time, I don't want an analog/non-MIDI/no effects dinosaur like the Xone:92 either.

It's a shame that N.I. never gave the DB4 Traktor Scratch Certification.....and it's also a shame that A&H didn't give the DB4 Sends/Returns. I swear to God, there is no perfect solution!

I like the fact that the Z2 is made for the software, so there are likely to be very few hiccups at least when it comes to the software/hardware integration. However, the thing that ABSOLUTELY irks me about the Z2 is that the upfaders were made stiff! I mean, come the 'eff on, was that really necessary? It's like they designed it w' the beginner in mind.

    ::END RANT::

........maybe NAMM will bring something new to the table.

Serato cant handle 2 soundcards, but you can plug in 2 PCs at the same time.

After 2 months with Z2 now, I sold it and am currently back to my A6 and SL3 until I have the money for 62.

Yes but I´d never buy for myself.
I´m simply not a pioneer fan, whenever possible I will bring my own mixer to gig, even did that for 4 years at a residency I had.

Cant really tell what it is, I´m just not really comfortable with´em :|

Huh? The 62 DOES have (2) Soundcards....with 20 channels each!
