    Kontakt Tutorial?

I`m looking forward to getting into Reaktor.I really love kontakt but i have to agree ,it`s confusing for a non-tech.person to learn how to program with it.I`d love an in depth Tutorial on this(beyond the one thats up which is still very good).Maybe we should start a thread and pick everyones brain.I know heres a couple programming genius at the Northernsounds site that really know what there doing..any takers? I'm up for it! I have a lot of free time at work in the summer, so I could contribute a thing or two. Mind you, pretty much anything that I haven't been able to figure out has been answered here on the Forum - doing a search for your subject matter could be as effective as outright tutorials...and the tutorial could be hard for people to notice if it's a thread, once it's bumped off the first page. It would be cool if we could get a sub-forum like there is in the Reaktor Forum, then it's separate, always accessible and could be broken up into categories. Maybe if a lot of people are into it, we could lobby NI to create a new section?

    Just my thoughts.

Well, if you try to program from scratch Reaktor can be imposing. But, next time you get into it, try copying and pasting components as an easy way to build what you want. For example, I'll take a sampler player from one module and hook it up to a Pro53 filter from another. After a while, this gives you a good idea of how things work without busting your brain.

    RE;Kontakt Programming Forum

BDuffy ,Your thoughts are good!I`m not sure how we`d start this but Im sure the boys are NI would be cool with this.Maybe we can E-mail Martin Jann and see if he can get someone to stick up a seperate sub-forum like u were saying. The idea would be to users to post useful things and features they`ve discovered as opposed to complains or bugs(that can be specially reserved for this forum).I knwo alot of Kontakt programers would tap into this(right now there all over at NorthernSounds)>Now how do we get this ball rolling?
    Kinda excited, Rich

I´am with you. Let us make a Kontakt tutorial to learn some hints and ways of working from each other.
I have no clear picture how to do a tutorial and where, yet.
But I can show you my way to program a rich pad from only one or two small samples for example.
    What you think?

I really like this thread, very positive. For your knowledge theres a Kontakt-users group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kontakt-users/ and files like tutorials and .nki, fxpresets etc. can be uploaded and shared to all the members of the group.
Everyone can join and share info, knowledge, instruments and tips or just passively read the threads and contributions. Whatever fits.

Rich: Well, I guess the first step is to see if NI is interested in creating that Sub-Forum. Would you care to do the honours of e-mailing them?

Adle: I visited that Yahoo group but I couldn't log in with my Yahoo ID - I'll try it again. Sounds pretty useful.

There's a Kontakt Forum at NorthernSounds as well? I didn't know that.

    Starting a Kontakt users Forum

k, I`m really busy right now doing this show .But I`ll try to email one of the moderators tommorow morning before work and let them know we`d appreciate this. But 1st,DOES EVERYONE WANT THIS?I`m not gonna bug em` and have the sub-forum sit empty like a lug unless theres a real demand.Or else we should just be happy with the Yahoo graoup. But i think there should be a forum like this on NI`s OWN SITE!!So lets hear it...Anyone? Rich

    Rich,
To put together full blown tutorials would be a hefty task, but the idea of a sub-forum, or any efficient way of grouping creative methods of using KONTAKT is good - I know it would interest me! It would make it easier to reach further into the anatomy of the tool/toy that links us here on this forum. And obviously, any good, clear thoughts brought up by the contributers would spawn reflection and engender further creative progress, and be a healthy change of pace from the mundane (and necessary) queries and criticisms that we see here most of the time.

    Hi,

there are a couple more forums and links to Kontakt user sites. We have collected these links (that we know) and put them in the links section of Kontakt:

    Kontakt Links

If you know more links to free samples or forums, please let us know. Thanks.

    Martin

    Kontakt Tutorial like Forum

Hi Martin, Thanks for join the fray and also for the link to the links that i hadnt discovered.Do u think it would be usefull for NI to start a start a sub-forum like a "Reaktor creators" but a "KOntakt tutorial" one? It would just focus on 'HOw to use and program" Kontakt...what do u think?...Regards,Rich

    In short :
Studio - hobbyist ( lol ! music eats all my money and time ! )- 100 % and above softs - standalone mode for " explorations " VST for " use " in SX .
Use : nearly exclusively heavy samples mangling with massive modulations and numerous " modules "

Result : one instrument and my 1 Ghz is on its knees !

    I want 20 Ghz CPUs now ! ;-)

Actually, you'd be amazed at what you can get away with with a 3ghz processor! Literally about 10x the processing power in Cubase. Songs I do at work that run at 10% CPU won't even play at home (800mhz). Amazing.

okay, I'll see that soon since I'am upgrading ...
But I'am confident I'll hit the ceiling rapidly anyhow ! ;-)

Well, we always do - but the 3ghz cieling is actually quite useable; I can mix vocals, other audio and keep almost all the VSTi's un-bounced, while running crazy amounts insert FX and Sends. Much more like being in a recording studio.

I mean with a single synth or one Vokator !
    I can max out my 1 Ghz with one Rhino, one Z3ta+ ... and I don't use them " my " 100 % !!
So with a 2.6 Ghz at least I'll be able to use maybe 2 " fully " ...
But a Kontakt with 20 or 30 + LFOs and envs and step seqs with " heavy targeting " going on, I think the poor CPU will suffer badly !
I will know this WE or later if all goes well ...
