I am curious about the longevity of the Z2. I have one but, want to know if it can be trusted for gig'n lugging around. I generally treat equipment very well but, coming from Rane mixers which are super reliable I get iffy about the Z2 sometimes.

I've had mine for about 5 months now. I put an Innofader PNP into it right away just because I like being able to fine tune the tension. So far no issues. One small thing I did notice, the small button to sync on one deck was getting a bit wacky on me for a few days, not sure if it was just a fluke or not but it hasn't happened since. Just to be safe I mapped one of my dicers to handle **** like that just so I don't have to push any of the tiny buttons on the mixer face. Other than that, I love this thing

Had the Z2 for a couple of weeks, nothing than problems with it and returned it to the store and bought a 62 and didn't look back.
The idea of the Z2 is very good and it's not expensive at all compared to the competition, but there are too many problems and bugs with it.
Soundwise like all N.I. cards it performed well.
As for longevity, I don't think if you treat your mixer well it would suddenly fall apart.
If you got a good working Z2 enjoy it and don't worry about it.

It should suddenly fall apart but, it has yet to prove itself. It only takes one bad gig to lose a spot or soil your name in the cut throat world of dj'ing. I am trying to use the Z2 exclusively when I spin and give it a fair shake. I actually love the unit but, I sometimes feel like I the last member in the members only club with the Z2.

Had one problem at a gig where the cue button jammed, the software glitched and put the cue on 1/16 note loop (loop wasn't on), which was noticed by the whole crowd, who was looking at me like wtf are you doing (lucky near the end), until I stopped playback and cued it up again, It could've been that the button jammed, it couldve been the humidity from that sweaty room screwing up the electronics, or possibly just traktor glitching, but altogether not satisfied with that experience.

An unexpected 1/16 loop would freak me out as well as the crowd. It's a sonically weird loop size that would sound like the matrix.

I have seen one glitch so far with my fader. It randomly changed the cut in on the left side. I re-calibrated and that did not help. I restarted and it went back to normal. This happened at home so it was no biggie.

    Hmm.
Had mine about 4 months and not a single issue. Its been out on the road with me for about half a dozen gigs so far but at home it gets an old skool Turntablist beating for at least a couple of hours every day.
I'd even go as far say its the best mixer for the money I've ever bought. (That said I got mine when they were on the £500 special offer - its a hell of a lot of mixer for £500.)

@MattyEngland. Funny to hear "at home it gets an old skool Turntablist beating for at least a couple of hours every day.". I totally use to do the same when I considered myself a turntablist. I also bought mine when it went on special and I consider it a lot of mixer as well. It's definitely kicking @ss in the sound quality and feature department. I do have some suggestions for a revision of the Z2 to NI though if they cared to listen.

I've had mine for 8 month now and so far no issues what so ever.
Oh wait, I did have the pain peel of around the crossfader after only 2 weeks of cutting, so I contacted N.I. support and was sent a new faceplate asap.
    Since then no problems!
I use it pretty much every second day for 1-3 hours practicing and I bring it along to all my gigs (different venues 3-8 times a month).
So yeah, until now it seems to hold up really well...I should state thou, that I always cover it when not using or transporting it with a decksaver!

Besides the paint issue, I can't think of anything that is a problem.
I've traveled with it, i've used it countless of times in many different situations.

Since they are on sale again I might just pick up one for giggin' and as a backup. First i have to sell a 57SL and Rane SL4. Thanks for all your feedback.

Great mixer! Never had a problem with it except for the paint peeling that seemed to affect the first production run. NI sent a replacement and I still have the old one on (I actually like that the paint is gone around the volume and crossfaders), but keeping the replacement as a backup. Great mixer for Traktor users and very clean in appearance.

They went on sale and i just bought a 2nd one. Now that I'm use to Traktor and the Z2 I have no interest in using my Rane SL4. I actually prefer the Z2 without fader markings.

My second Z2 came in from DJTechTools. It has a rev2 fader as supposed to my first Z2 with a rev1 fader. Both faders work fine but the Rev2 feels a bit more responsive. That's 2 Z2's I now have and still cheaper than 1 Sixty-One. Glad I no longer have to disconnect my Z2 mixer every time I have to spin.

I have mine for about 9 months now. Since then i had 2 mini innofaders replaced, and im writing now because the last one i recieved is again bleeding. I will again write to support and explain my issue since this is really too much, if im correct the mini innofader should last much much longer, in the Tech Dif 1's i read somewhere about 3 years.

I recalibrated the faders, i even put the xfader out and pushed the button to reset it, and after couple of hours of usage it bleeds very badly...

The issue i also had is with the paint on faceplatter... I recieved a new one, and after 2months the pain went off again...

I love the mixer in general , but right about now, i hate it... Wish I never bought it...

I've had my Z2 as soon as they were released, and there haven't been that many problems. Got a nasty sounding audio dropout once during a gig. no major complaints here in that regard. I only wish one could use the Z2 as a standalone dj mixer as well as a traktor controller simultaneously (which seems to be impossible ATM)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but you can use this as a standalone. Just got to push the little Traktor/direct thru buttons and you can play vinyl/CDs without hooking up your computer. Do you mean something else by "standalone"?

I mean, i'd like to be able to use the controller parts to control traktor without also using the channelstrips in traktor. Currently this is not possible, it's all or nothing (ie. non HID midi control)

I've just picked up one of these and concerned now by the reports I'm reading about the faders. What is the Rev2 fader and how does it differ from the Rev1? How can I tell what I have?

    Thanks.

There's a lot of people out there with a rev1 mini innofader with no problems. Want to know the difference then read this.

I'm going on a year with my one of my Z2's and it's working just fine (rev1 fader). I am using it for gigging and taking it to my regular spots 1x a week. The newer Z2 is at home and gets a turntablist beating once a week. Both faders are holding up fine. The Z2 is my favorite mixer of all time. My crew is all Serato and like using the Z2 with SL & an SL3/SL4.
