    Hi to all...
A doubt, maybe stupid.. maybe not..
I've read somewhere here that guitar rig can be activated just 2 times, it means 2 computers?
But what happens If in the future I will change 3-4 computers?
For example, now I have an old Pentium 4, with my licence of guitar rig 2 on it.
Now i'm planning to change my PC because I want to go on a MAC book pro. So in this case I have to reinstall guitar rig on mac and use my serial number also on it.
But my pentium 4 is old and I would like to change it too and buy a newer one (core2duo).
Shall I be able to activate again my guitar rig on the new pc (core2duo) or not? I didn't understand if is there a limit or not to activate my licence if I'll have more than 2 new computers in the future...
    Please clear my doubts!

    Thanks so much,
    ANDREA

so from here to the future if I change more than 2 computers, I will not be able to run my guitar rig license again on a new one? It sounds very strange......

2 at the same time, so you can buy new machines without issue.

If you do a clean install on your machine it's simple to re register because you are using the same hardware id.

Get a new computer and you just de register your existing hardware id and the new computer replaces the previous id - simple. And you can have your software on 2 machines enabling you to use your notebook when out of the studio.

It's much better than having a dongle with maybe £1000+ of software licenses on it that you can lose or damage or in the case of a certain score writing programme if you do a clean install you have to call them up to ask for a new number.

I would just like to say to the guys at NI that I think their way of protection against software piracy is by far the best and most convenient way.

I'm very happy with the license process.

Ditto. I'm not sure how you de-register these days, but I can tell you that I had some problems with my latest install where I had to do it over several times, and authorization went through each time without a hitch. Credit where credit is due.
I'd just like to add that if you don't already have a good disk imaging program, it's a good idea to get one and make an image of your new install when everything is authorized. I use Acronis True Image 10. I hear that the latest versions of Ghost also keep NI auths intact.

    Thanks for the answers guys...
My fear was that If i would replace more then 2 computers in the future, at the third one, activation didn't work any more!
So a third new computer activation delete preevious Hardware ID registrations and substitute it atomatically with the newer one... Right?
    Thanks a lot to everybody

So does this mean I can put GR3 on my laptop as well as main PC? :)

    Hi Phil,

please find below the relevant part of the Guitar Rig 3 license agreement which covers your question. Basically it means that you are allowed to install it on a second computer, but just in the case that you only use one computer at any given time.

    3. Scope of use

Native Instruments grants the Licensee, the non-exclusive right to use the Licensed software and hardware on one single computer only (i.e. one CPU) at one single place. If this single computer is connected to a multi-user system, this License shall apply to all users of the system.

The Licensee may personally use the licensed software or hardware temporarily on another computer, on condition that the said software and hardware is normally used regularly on one particular computer. Use above and beyond these limits is not permissible.

That's great then, as I would never be able to use the laptop to play guitar and the main studio PC at the same time... LOL (if I could I think I may receive an award for being the world's first four handed guitarist.)

    Thanks for the info Marius.
