How much memory does Maschine use

I've been using the regular version of Maschine because most of my plug-ins aren't 64-bit and I need access to them but my question is how much memory does the unit/program use. I ask this because she's working the CPU seriously overtime near 80%-125% with three plug-ins: Kontakt 4 Abbey Roads 80'S, Reaktor Prism and Arturia Arp2600V2.

It crashed once while running in Abelton and once in standalone and is about kill the system every time.

I like running plug-ins but for a while have known that it would be too much.

And I have an eight processor 2.2GHz i7 MacBook Pro with 16GB Ram installed.

    Any info/help would be appreciated.

At this moment Maschine is not multi-core. It can not access more then one core at the moment. Th application itself is not 64-bit so it will not be able to access more then 3 GB at a time for all of the plugins it is hosting. Abbey Roads drum kits load lots of samples which occupy your available RAM and Reaktor and Arturia plugins are very processor intensive. I also run into issues running many plugins from both companies on a Mac Pro. Your issue is not dependent on your hardware setup but rather on the software end. Hang in tight and wait for software developers to play catch up with the hardware that is available at the moment.

Haha catch up with the hardware is funny cause 64bit has been around for a while now as well as multicore processors. I guess you can say the same for timestretch though. That's neither here nor there literally lmao. FUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Ohh this long drawn out process of milking is irritating. Glad they got rid of Kore because hopefully that freed up coders so they can focus ALL there attention on Maschine because this is the best thing NI has every made besides Traktor now make them marry each other and live happily ever after in a 64bit multicore relationship.

dont worry. cthulhu told me that timestretch and multiprocessing will come in next versions.

I knew something was up because it seemed that Maschine was struggling and taking the life out of Ableton with just three plug-ins. I really do like the concept of running the plug-ins in Maschine (like everyone else) but in practice, the reality is that we won't get near running say...128 plug-ins anytime soon, with this version of the software - the theoretical possibilities are far away and just a few make it unstable.

I'll continue to keep the plug-ins outside maschine and run mostly samples on the unit. Most of my creation is done in Logic Pro 64->Abelton<-Reason and I wanted to see how I could travel with it but the three also made my AC unit so hot I could fry an egg on it or play a good game of "hot potato".

Hopefully they'll also figure out a way to allow Maschine to access more memory. A 32-bit bridge for 32-bit plug-ins would help because working in 64-bit has it's limits since most plug-ins aren't 64-bit.

when using a 32 bit application in a 64bit environment, the 32 bit application will have access to the full 4gb limit in a 64bit environment.

if he is in a 32bit os, then that number will greatly depending on his hardware configuration and how much ram is left for any applications.

    to the op,

you can switch between 32bit and 64bit maschine, use what you need in 32bit maschine bounce to audio then reopen that project in 64bit maschine and carry on.
    switch back and fourth etc

I'm running maschine and run komplete 8 through it and it can't handle too many things at once very frustrating. Any way to utilize ram better? when I have maschine running it uses the majority of my 4gb of ram on my macbook pro i7.

    Thanks

I only have 3 gig ram on my pc, i seem to be ok unless i really take the pi** and try several Kontakt + Reaktor + lots of VST - work methods perhaps need adjusting to fit the current setups people have, we all know it's a pain in the arse working around this BUT it's where we are and will be for some time until they sort this multi core thing out.

i'm running the same macbook pro w/ 8gb ram and still have problem.. i usually run my buffer at 128 for timing when I'm making the beat but end up at 512 probably by the end of the beat.

The higher the buffer size, the easier it is to manage. For more VST-heavy projects I've had my buffer all the way up to 1632. I don't see how anyone can manage with the buffer only being at 128 (while using VST's).

Yeah you dont have to run anything at 128 for timing...even 512 is generally ok then higher for mixing
